Notice of Acceptance of Complete Specifications.

Patent Office,
Wellington, 23rd January, 1907.

COMPLETE specifications relating to the undermentioned applications for Letters Patent have been accepted, and are open to public inspection at this office. Any person may, at any time within two months from the date of this Gazette, give me notice in writing of opposition to the grant of any such patent. Such notice must set forth the particular grounds of objection, and be in duplicate. A fee of 10s. is payable thereon.

No. 20689.—9th February, 1906.—Rees Williams, of Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand, Engineer. Improvements relating to screens used for sifting.*

Claim.—A screen for the purpose indicated, rockers upon which the screen is mounted and bases supporting the rockers, an eccentric secured upon a shaft operated by the machinery of the dredge, a bracket secured to the bottom of the dredge, and a connecting-rod coupling together the eccentric and the arm, substantially as set forth.

No. 20695.—10th February, 1906.—Wilmot Clifton Quinnell, of 35 Pirie Street, Wellington, New Zealand, Government Veterinary, M.R.C.V.S. An improved milk-pail and stool.*

Claim.—For the purpose indicated, in combination, a pail having a wide base, a flat lid of strong material fitting the top of the pail and forming a seat, perforations in the lid, a spout upon the pail, a funnel telescopically connected to the spout, a band fitting the rim of the funnel, a strainer of textile material or wire gauze secured to the funnel by a band, a cap for closing the spout, and a handle for carrying the pail, substantially as set forth.

No. 20755.—21st February, 1906.—Henry Storey, of Khyber Pass Road, Auckland, New Zealand, Watchmaker. Improvements in boilers.*

Claim.—In combination with a boiler for washing clothes, and an iron frame having a firebrick lining, a dome secured to the boiler, a coil of pipe surrounding the boiler and having one end connected to the bottom and the other end near the top of the boiler, substantially as set forth.

No. 20793.—1st March, 1906.—William Strather Gillies, of 70 Harper Street, Christchurch, New Zealand, Carpenter. Improvements relating to tramway-points.*

Claims.—(1.) For the purpose indicated, in combination, baulks arranged longitudinally to a tramway, sleepers placed transversely and secured to the baulks, there being spaces between the sleepers, rails secured to the sleepers, a rail-point resting on the sleepers, and triangular stop-pieces for supporting the point, substantially as set forth. (2.) In combination with a tramway-point and pit constructed as described in claim 1, a chair having integral triangular stop-pieces, substantially as set forth. (3.) The combination and arrangement of parts comprising the improvements relating to tramway-points, substantially as specified, and as illustrated in the drawing.

No. 20819.—8th March, 1906.—George Ridgway, of the Great Boulder Gold-mine, Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, Engineer. Improvements in atmospheric filters.*

Claims.—(1.) In improvements in atmospheric filters, a central column divided into compartments by one or more partitions and fitted with a revolvable cap or cover having a number of radial hollow arms connected to filtering trays or frames, means for connecting the separate compartments to separate vacuum-chambers, a concentrically slotted base permitting the adjustability of the said column, a pressure-chamber in combination with said column, pipes and valves connecting said pressure-chamber to the back of filtering-trays, a bracket for operating said valves, in combination with a vacuum filtering-machine, substantially as described and illustrated. (2.) In improvements in atmospheric filters, a concentrically adjustable column with a vacuum-chamber partially divided by partition, and a revolvable cap, in combination with filtering mechanism and vacuum-producers, substantially as described and illustrated. (3.) In improvements in atmospheric filters in which filtration and removal of the material deposited on the filtering-medium are dependent upon or facilitated by the production of variations of pressure on the opposite sides of such medium, the adjustable divided vacuum-chambers with revolvable cap and radial tubular arms flexibly connected to filtering-apparatus and connected to vacuum-producer, with radial arms also flexibly connected to said filtering-medium, also connected to air-pressure supply, substantially as described and illustrated. (4.) In improvements in atmospheric filters, the combination of parts whereby various solutions may be drawn through a filtering-medium into a common chamber while being kept separate and delivered to various destinations, the said means for dividing common chamber being adjustable to vary the grades of solution, and the means for adjusting same, a revolvable cap to
