Notice of Acceptance of Complete Specifications.

Patent Office,
Wellington, 24th July, 1907.

COMPLETE specifications relating to the undermentioned applications for Letters Patent have been accepted, and are open to public inspection at this office. Any person may, at any time within two months from the date of this Gazette, give me notice in writing of opposition to the grant of any such patent. Such notice must set forth the particular grounds of objection, and be in duplicate. A fee of 10s. is payable thereon.

No. 21014.—19th April, 1906.—FREDERICK WILLIAM BLISS, of Woodville, New Zealand, Sheep-farmer. An improved gate-hinge.*

Claim.—The improved gate-hinge, comprising the combination with a staple having a lug projecting laterally from its top end, of an eye or socket piece, the eye or socket of which is adapted to fit on to the staple, and is formed with a groove or depression extending down its inner surface adapted to pass over the lug on the staple, substantially as and for the purpose specified, and as illustrated in the drawings.

No. 21158.—17th May, 1906.—FREDERICK WILLIAM EDMUND GABRIEL, of Waratah, Albion Road, Albion, near Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, Civil Servant. An improved turnstile.*

Claims.—(1.) In an improved turnstile, consisting of a gate hung from a fixed point or from a sliding frame, and provided with means which tend to keep it open—automatic means also being provided for holding the gate shut so long as desired—said gate having a turnstile at its outer end, as and for the purposes set forth, and as illustrated in the drawings. (2.) In an improved turnstile, consisting of a gate hung from a fixed point or from a sliding frame, and provided with means which tend to keep it open—automatic means also being provided for holding the gate shut so long as desired—said gate carrying a turnstile at its outer end, consisting of radial arms pivoted to the centre post, and means which, while they hold the arms up when the gate is closed, allow them to fall when the gate is opened, as and for the purposes set forth, and as illustrated in the drawings. (3.) In an improved turnstile, the combination of the gate and turnstile as claimed in claims 1 and 2, with a recess formed in or against the wall of the passage, and provided with a door fitted with means for holding said door in its opened position, but capable of being operated by the opening of the gate for the purpose of releasing and allowing said door to close the recess, as and for the purposes described and illustrated.

No. 21176.—22nd May, 1906.—JOSEPH DAWSON, of Wellington, New Zealand, Bridge-builder. Improvements in the construction of bridges:

Claims.—(1.) In bridges having the sides composed of top and bottom rails connected together by tie-bolts and trusses, the combination with vertical tie-bolts passing through both rails and the joists of the bridge, of hollow pillars or distance pieces extending between the rails and through which the tie-bolts are passed, and of truss-bolts extending diagonally upwards through the bottom rail from a point on one side of each tie-bolt, and through the top rail to a point upon the farther side of the tie-bolt next in order, substantially as specified. (2.) In bridges having the sides composed of top and bottom rails connected together by tie-bolts and trusses, the combination with vertical tie-bolts passing through both rails and the joists of the bridge, of hollow pillars or distance pieces extending between the rails and through which the tie-bolts are passed, substantially as specified. (3.) The improvements in the construction of bridges, substantially as described and explained, and as illustrated in the drawings.
