ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this fifteenth day of July, 1907.

His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and thirty-three, subsection (a), of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” it is enacted that a local authority shall not declare any county or district road to be stopped, and such road shall not be deemed to be stopped, until the consent thereto of the Governor by Order in Council gazetted is obtained:
And whereas the Ashley Road Board has applied for such consent in respect to the road described in the Schedule hereto:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and in exercise of the above-in-part-recited Act, and of all other powers in any-wise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby consent to the Cook County Council closing the road mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1905,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the road described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, be a Government road.

Payment for Overtime.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fifteenth day of July, 1907.

His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by Order in Council made on the thirty-first day of March, one thousand nine hundred and four, under “The Electric Lines Act, 1884,” and “The Post Office Act, 1900” (hereinafter termed “the said Acts”), and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the seventh day of April, one thousand nine hundred and four, regulations were made and rates fixed for the payment of officers of the Post and Telegraph Department working overtime; and by regulations numbered one hundred and thirty-nine to one hundred and forty-three inclusive, and nine hundred and ten to nine hundred and fourteen inclusive, of the Schedule to an Order in Council dated the eleventh day of June, one thousand nine hundred and six, made under the authority of “The Post Office Act, 1881,” and “The Electric Lines Act, 1884,” respectively, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the fifteenth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and six, the said regulations and rates were reaffirmed: And it is desirable to alter and amend such regulations and rates in the manner hereinafter set forth:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by the said Acts, and of all other powers and authorities in that behalf enabling him, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby revoke the several regulations relating to overtime hereinbefore recited, and in lieu thereof doth make the regulations set forth in the Schedule hereto; and doth further order and declare that this Order in Council and such substitute regulations shall have effect on and after the publication of such Order in Council in the New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
OVERTIME.
- PAYMENT for overtime, when made, shall be made at the following rates:—

At all hours on Sundays for every purpose, and on weekdays between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. when mails are specially authorised to be sorted, a rate and a half shall be paid for overtime.
- Subject to the provisions hereinafter contained, overtime shall be paid for as follows:—
(a.) To officers called on to perform postal duties in the sorting and delivery of mails or in other operations incidental thereto at Chief Post-offices, or to perform telegraph duties at offices at which there are regular shifts or changes of staff—namely, the offices at Auckland, Blenheim, Christchurch, Dunedin, Gisborne, Greymouth, Hokitika, Invercargill, Napier, Nelson, New Plymouth, Oamaru, Thames, Timaru, Wakapuaka, Wanganui, Wellington, and Westport: For Sunday attendance; for attendance on departmental holidays; and for attendance on other days in excess of forty-eight hours weekly.
(b.) To officers called on to perform telegraph duties for Press-work on Sunday at the following offices—namely, Ashburton, Bluff, Feilding, Gore, Hamilton, Hastings, Hawera, Kaikoura, Lyttelton, Marton, Masterton, Onehunga, Palmerston North, Port Chalmers, Reefton, Rotorua, and Waitara.

For the purposes of these regulations “Sunday” means and includes Good Friday and Christmas Day also.

No overtime allowance shall be made to officers of either branch of the service unless the extra attendance exceeds twenty minutes. Attendance up to forty-five minutes shall count as half an hour; over forty-five minutes, as one hour. No overtime shall be payable for midnight cable Press attendance, or for the attendance of any staff specially appointed for the sorting of mails between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.,
