MALACCA STRAIT.
KLANG STRAIT.—NORTHERN APPROACH.—SHOAL.—Information, dated 9th January, 1907, has been received from Captain J. A. Tuke, H.B.M.S. “Monmouth,” that an examination of the obstruction reported by the master of steamer “Glamorganshire,” in the northern approach to Klang Strait, Malacca Strait, shows that danger to be a rocky shoal, about 200 yards long and 50 yards wide, with 3¼ fathoms over it and depths of from 6 to 8 fathoms around, located on the following bearings:—
Pulo Angsa light, S. 6° E. true (S. ¾ E. mag.), distant 2·6 miles.
Pulo Besar, S. 84° E. true (E. ¾ S. s'ly mag.).
It is possible that there is a pinnacle with less water over it on this shoal. The shoal is plainly marked, except at slack water, by tide-rips and discolouration of the sea.
