A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by “The Scenery Preservation Act, 1903” (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may appoint a Commission who may inspect any lands possessing scenic or historic interest, or on which there may be thermal springs, and report thereon to the Governor, with recommendations as to what lands should be reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves: And whereas such Commission was duly appointed, and, after inspection, recommended that the parcels of land described in the Schedule hereunder should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers contained in the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the parcels of land described in the Schedule hereunder shall be reserved under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.
SCHEDULE.
MOUNT CARGILL SCENIC RESERVE.
All that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 349 acres 2 roods 34 perches, more or less, being parts of Sections Nos. 92, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 32, 33, and 34, Block VII; part of Section No. 61 and Sections Nos. 60 and 62, Block VIII; and Sections Nos. 8 and 23, Block XII, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 21, Block XII aforesaid, 2673 links; towards the west by part of said Section No. 21, 1637 links; again towards the north by part of said Section No. 21, 948 links; again towards the west by said Section No. 21, 893 links; again towards the north by Section No. 22, 2493 links, and by a road-line, 52 links; towards the north-west by the said road, 154 links; thence in a south-easterly direction by a line through Sections Nos. 24 and 25, Block VII aforesaid, bearing 143° 30′ 30″, 1382·4 links; again towards the north by part of said Section No. 25, 548·4 links; again in a south-easterly direction by a line through Section No. 26 bearing 166° 35′, 421·3 links; again towards the north by part of said Section No. 26, 246·1 links: thence in a south-westerly direction by lines through Sections Nos. 27, 28, 29, and 30 bearing 206° 9′, 125·3 links; bearing 198° 59½′, 254·2 links; bearing 183° 19′, 3324 links; bearing 184° 36′, 386·3 links; bearing 218° 25′, 399·2 links; bearing 199° 36′, 225 links: towards the south by part of Section No. 31, 2030·7 links; towards the south-east by said Section No. 31, 477·8 links; again towards the north by part of said Section No. 31, 1989 links: thence again in a south-westerly direction by lines through Sections Nos. 32 and 33 bearing 237° 24′, 423 links; bearing 214° 31′ 30″, 495·6 links; bearing 218° 17′, 72 links: thence again in a south-easterly direction by a line bearing 116° 40′, 603·3 links, to the Main North Road; again towards the south-east by said road, 550 links; again towards the south by Section No. 35, 2140 links; again towards the south-east by part of said Section No. 35, 72 links, aforesaid block; again towards the south by Section No. 48, Block VIII, aforesaid district, 3358 links; again towards the south-east by part of said Section No. 48, Section No. 46, and the crossing of a road-line, 2234 links; towards the south-west by part of Section No. 61 and by the crossing of two road-lines, 1280 links; thence by a road-line, 220 links; again towards the south-east by a road-line, 1408 links; again towards the south-west by a road-line, 1660 links; and again towards the north-west by part of Section No. 47 and Sections Nos. 51 and 52, Block VIII aforesaid, 3925 links: excluding from the above-described area all public roads which intersect the same: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 53647/43, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
Also all that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 rood 29 perches, more or less, being parts of Sections Nos. 24 and 92, Block VII, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District. Commencing at a point on the Main North Road distant 175 links in a north-westerly direction along said road from south-eastern corner of said Section No. 24; thence by lines through said Sections Nos. 24 and 92 in a south-westerly direction bearing 263° 34′, 270 links; thence in a north-westerly direction bearing 297° 45′, 1082 links; thence again in a south-westerly direction bearing 263° 14′, 298·1 links; thence in a south-easterly direction bearing 163° 37′, 248·3 links; thence again in a south-westerly direction bearing 191°, 270 links; thence again in a north-westerly direction bearing 323° 30′ 30″, 27 links; thence in a north-easterly direction bearing 11°
ERRATUM.—In the Order in Council closing part of Ridge Road, published in Gazette No. 98, of 19th November, 1906, page 3021, for the words “consent to the Cambridge Road Board” read “consent to the Mount Roskill Road Board.”
