No. 20846.—14th March, 1906.—GEORG ULLRICH, of Broken Hill, New South Wales, Commonwealth of Australia, Manager of the Australian Metal Company. An improved method of and apparatus for classifying or vanning ores or other materials.*
Extract from Specification.—This invention relates to the classification of ores or other materials. It consists in the herein-described method of and apparatus for classifying or vanning ores or other materials. It also provides for the removal of the dust adhering to, or otherwise mixed with, the particles of said ores or other material in dry classification. The invention is applicable to the classification of ores or other materials either by the wet or dry systems. According to this invention the material is subjected to a combined horizontally oscillating and vertically reciprocating motion, which has the effect of insuring a rapid and effective classification.

No. 20847.—14th March, 1906.—GEORG ULLRICH, of Broken Hill, State of New South Wales, Commonwealth of Australia, Manager of the Australian Metal Company. Improvements in the magnetic separation of ores and the like, and apparatus therefor.*
Extract from Specification.—This invention relates to the magnetic separation of paramagnetic ore, or of substances of different degrees of magnetic susceptibility. It has been devised for the purpose of providing a simple and highly efficient machine, capable of producing ore-concentrates of the highest grade. The invention is moreover specially adapted for working under the wet system of magnetic separation. One of the main features of this invention is that it provides, in a single mechanical construction, a magnetic separator possessing fields of widely different magnetic intensity, so that the ore-particles, whether of the strongest or weakest magnetic susceptibility, will be strongly attracted and held against the surface of certain separating-rings whilst passing out of the magnetic field.
[NOTE.—The above extract from the specification is inserted in place of the claims.]
