NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned reserves will be offered for lease by public auction, for the terms and at the upset annual rentals stated, at the District Lands Office, Gisborne, on Wednesday, the 13th day of February, 1907, under the provisions of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881.”

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

One half-year’s rent, together with £1 1s. lease fee, must be paid on the fall of the hammer.

No declaration is required. Residence and improvements are not compulsory. No compensation shall be claimed by the lessee, nor shall any be allowed by the Government, on account of any improvements effected by the lessee, nor for any other cause.

Possession will be given on the day of sale.

The lease shall be for the term of years specified above, but shall be subject to termination by twelve months’ notice in the event of the land being required by the Government.

The rent shall be payable half-yearly in advance.

The lessee shall have no right to sublet, transfer, or otherwise dispose of the land comprised in the lease, except with the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands first had and obtained.

The lessee shall prevent the growth and spread of gorse, broom, and sweetbriar on the land, and he shall with all reasonable despatch remove, or cause to be removed, all gorse, sweetbriar, broom, ragwort, or other noxious weeds or plants, as may be directed by the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

The lease shall be liable to forfeiture in case the lessee shall fail to fulfil any of the conditions of the lease within thirty days after the date on which the same ought to be fulfilled.

Pastoral Run in Canterbury Land District for Lease by Public Auction.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned pastoral run will be offered for lease by public auction, for a term of fourteen years, at the Land Office, Timaru, on Tuesday, the 26th day of February, 1907, at 11 o’clock a.m., under the provisions of Part VI of “The Land Act, 1892.”
SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT—WAIMATE COUNTY.
Class I.
Run No. 64, part of Hakataramea Station: Area, 11,000 acres. Upset annual rental, £250.
Locality and Description of Run.
This run is situate on the eastern slopes of the Grampian Mountains, and extends about eleven miles and a half in a southerly direction from the Hakataramea Pass, at an altitude of from 2,000 ft. to 5,600 ft. above sea-level. The lower spurs of the range are easy and sloping, and are mostly covered with tussock, snow-grass, blue-grass, and other native grasses. The improvements consist of about twenty miles and a half of boundary and subdivision fencing, and cob hut with iron roof. Included in this length of fencing are about three miles of Government rabbit-fence on the southern boundary, that are not to be paid for by the incoming tenant. The maximum amount which the incoming tenant will be liable for on account of improvements is £630.

NOTICE is hereby given, in terms of “The Land Act, 1892,” its amendments, and the regulations thereunder, that written tenders will be received at the District Lands Office, Auckland, from the proprietors of existing sawmills, and logging contractors, up till 12 o’clock noon on the 11th day of February, 1907, for the purchase of the undermentioned kauri timber standing on—
THAMES COUNTY.
- Parts of Blocks VII and XI, Whitianga Survey District, Clump “B” (Part of Te Tipi Block).
749 green and dry kauri-trees, containing approximately 1,080,167 sup. ft. (standing measurement).
Distinguishing-brand thus: Z.
Time for removal: Two years.
Terms: One-third in cash within seven days after acceptance of tender, one-third in eight months, and one-third in sixteen months thereafter.
Defective trees not included in this sale, and branded FR —viz., 26 green and 66 dry kauri-trees.
OHINEMURI COUNTY.
- Part of Block VIII, Ohinemuri Survey District (Waiharakeke Creek).
166 green kauri-trees, containing approximately 340,488 sup. ft. (standing measurement); 72 dry kauri-trees, containing approximately 128,462 sup. ft. (standing measurement); 109 kauri-logs, containing approximately 107,446 sup. ft.
Distinguishing-brand thus: ||
Time for removal: One year.
Terms: Half in cash within seven days after acceptance of tender, and half in six months thereafter.
Defective trees not included in this sale, and branded FR —viz., 5 kauri-trees.
CONDITIONS.

Intending tenderers are expected to visit the locality and to satisfy themselves in every particular on all matters relating to their tenders.

The aforementioned quantities, qualities, and kind as to the said timber shall be taken as sufficiently accurate for the purpose of this sale, and no contract for purchase shall be voidable, nor shall the successful tenderer be entitled to any abatement in price, by reason of the said timber being of less quantity, quality, and kind than as stated hereon or in any advertisement having reference to the said timber, nor shall any extra sum be claimed by the Crown if for any reason the quantity of timber is found to be in excess of that stated hereon.

No tender will be considered wherein a less royalty than 1s. 6d. per 100 sup. ft. is offered.

In each lot, with the exception of the logs above mentioned, the quantities stated are standing measurements.

The highest or any tender not necessarily accepted.

All tenders must be submitted on forms which will be supplied by the Lands Department on application, and to be addressed to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Auckland, and envelope marked “Timber tender.”
TERMS.
Separate tenders for the two lots of timber must be accompanied with a deposit of 5 per cent. on the amount of tender in cash, marked cheque, or post-office order; the balance to be paid, if tender accepted, as specified in the terms of each lot.
All such instalment payments shall bear interest at the rate of 5 per cent. per annum as from the date of acceptance of tender, and, with the interest, shall be secured by promissory note payable on demand, and made and indorsed to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.
