IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by “The Local Elections Act, 1904,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby extend the hour at which the poll for the biennial election of a member of the Lyttelton Harbour Board by the ratepayers of the Boroughs of New Brighton, Woolston, and Sumner, united for that purpose, to be held and taken on the eleventh day of February, one thousand nine hundred and seven, shall close, to seven o’clock in the afternoon of the same day.

Volunteer Regulations amended.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by “The Defence Act, 1886,” and “The Defence Act Amendment Act, 1900,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby amend, in the manner and to the extent set forth in the Schedule hereto, such of the General Regulations of the Defence Forces of New Zealand, made on the eighth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and six, published in the New Zealand Gazette of the same date, as are set forth in the said Schedule. And I do hereby declare that such amended regulations shall come into force on the thirtieth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and seven.
SCHEDULE.
REGULATION 128, (2).—Delete word “honorary” on second line, and also the word “Commandant” at end of paragraph, and insert in lieu thereof, after the word “the” in third line, the word “Adjutant-General.”
Regulation 134, (2).—After the word “officers” on first line add “to earn capitation and to qualify as efficient towards grant of New Zealand Volunteer Service Medals.”
Delete paragraph (3) of Regulation 134.

Authorising the Samaritan Home to receive and detain Habitual Drunkards under “The Habitual Drunkards Act, 1906.”

WHEREAS by section four of “The Habitual Drunkards Act, 1906” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is provided that the Governor may from time to time, by Warrant gazetted, authorise any institution to receive and detain habitual drunkards under the said Act in any place under its control mentioned in the Warrant: And whereas it is desirable that the institution hereinafter described should be so authorised:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby authorise the institution known as “The Samaritan Home” to receive and detain habitual drunkards under the said Act in the place or building known as “The Samaritan Home,” and situated at Addington, in the City of Christchurch.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fifth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and seven.

Changing the Purpose of a Reserve in the Nelson Land District.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power conferred by section fifty-four of “The Reserves and Other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1906,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby change the purpose of the reserve described in the Schedule hereto from a reserve for a site for a school of mines to a reserve for a site for a Courthouse.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land in the Nelson Land District, containing by admeasurement 23 perches, more or less, situated in the Town of Westport, and being part of the reserve of 13 acres 1 rood described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 3, of the 20th January, 1869, page 28, as a site for public buildings or other purposes of the General Government. Bounded towards the south-east by Wakefield Street, and towards the north-east, north-west, and south-west by the other part of the said reserve: as the same is more particularly delineated upon the plan marked S.G. 18230, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirtieth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and seven.

PLUNKET, Governor.
WHEREAS by the two-hundred-and-thirty-fifth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:
And whereas by the two-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of the said Act it is provided that land temporarily reserved under the said two-hundred-and-thirty-fifth section may, at the expiration of one month but not later than six months after the publication in the Gazette of notice of such temporary reservation, be permanently reserved, and that notice of such permanent reservation shall be published in the Gazette:
And whereas the lands specified in the first column of the Schedule hereto were, by the Warrants the dates of which are specified in the third column of the said Schedule, and the notifications of which were published in the Gazettes specified in the fourth column, temporarily reserved under the authority of the said Act for the purposes specified in the second column of the said Schedule:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby permanently reserve the lands so
