Regulation under “The Beer Duty Act, 1907.”—Hop-beer.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this nineteenth day of December, 1907.

WHEREAS by section nine of “The Beer Duty Act Amendment Act, 1907” (hereinafter called “the said Act”), it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, by Order in Council gazetted, make regulations for the carrying-out of the provisions of the said Act:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the said Act, doth hereby make the following regulation, which shall come into force on the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and eight.
The license to be granted under the said Act shall be in the following form:—
LICENSE TO MANUFACTURE HOP-BEER.
, of , having paid into my office the sum of £1, in accordance with the provisions of “The Beer Duty Act Amendment Act, 1907,” is hereby licensed to manufacture hop-beer for sale, the alcoholic strength of which does not exceed 3 per cent. of proof spirit. This license shall continue in force until the 31st day of December, 190 .

Note.—No hop-beer shall be sold, offered for sale, or exposed for sale unless the name and address of the manufacturer are printed on labels affixed to the cask or bottle in which such hop-beer is contained.

Alterations to the Scale of Fares, Rates, and Charges in Force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.
IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under “The Government Railways Act, 1900,” I, Joseph George Ward, Minister for Railways, do hereby make the following alterations in the scale of fares, rates, and charges in force on the New Zealand Government railways open for traffic, such alterations to come into force on and after the 23rd day of December, 1907:—
PART I.—PASSENGERS.
LOCAL FARES AND REGULATIONS.
HURUNUI—BLUFF SECTION.
Cancel—
Hanmer Plains Hot Springs.
Return excursion tickets for the through journey by rail, motor, and coach to Hanmer Plains will be issued from Invercargill, Dunedin, Christchurch, Papanui, and Kaiapoi daily throughout the year, available for return for three months from date of issue.
Return through fare by rail, motor, and coach, first class:—
From Christchurch and Papanui .. 1 8 0
" Kaiapoi .. .. .. 1 6 0
" Dunedin .. .. .. 3 5 0
" Invercargill .. .. .. 4 5 0
The journey may be broken at any station at which the train is timed to stop after travelling ten miles from the original starting-station, provided the specified time for which the tickets are available is not exceeded.
Insert—

REGULATION 32.—TARPAULINS.

When owners of goods do their own loading and require the use of tarpaulins they must provide the labour for sheeting the truck.

REGULATION 43.
Franco-British Exhibition.
In consideration of their being carried solely at the risk of consignors, and of the Government being freed of all liability in connection therewith, exhibits consigned for exhibition at the Franco-British Exhibition, to be opened in London in May next, will be carried free on the New Zealand Government railways, provided that each package shall be marked legibly “For exhibition at the Franco-British Exhibition,” and consigned to the Department of Industries and Commerce or to the Exhibition direct.
All loading and unloading shall be done at the expense of the consignors, and in the event of the exhibits or any part thereof being sold the full ordinary railage charges must be paid.
Under similar conditions, and on the production of a certificate from the Exhibition authorities stating that the exhibits have not been transferred, exchanged, or sold, and are still the property of the original consignors, free railage will be granted on the return journey.
PART IV.—GOODS: LOCAL RATES.
AUCKLAND SECTION.
Cancel—
Loading kauri logs at Helensville timber-slip will be charged 2½d. per 100 sup. feet.
Insert—
Loading logs at Helensville timber-slip will be charged 3d. per 100 sup. feet.
WESTLAND SECTION.
Insert—
Coal shunted from the State collieries to Runanga will be charged 1s. 6d. per ton. Minimum charge, 6s. per truck.
PART V.—CLASSIFICATION OF GOODS, LIVE-STOCK, PARCELS, AND LUGGAGE.
