Trustee for Cape Turnagain Landing.

PLUNKET, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-first day of January, 1907.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE SIR J. G. WARD, K.C.M.G., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the twenty-eighth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 72, of the thirty-first day of the same month, the management of a landing at Cape Turnagain was vested in Hugh Handyside, Charles Herbert, and James Groves Speedy, as trustees for the inhabitants of the district:

And whereas the said Hugh Handyside resigned his trusteeship, and William Walter Scot Hales, of Herbertville, was, by Order in Council dated the twentieth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and two, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 10, of the sixth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and two, appointed to act as trustee in his stead jointly with the said Charles Herbert and James Groves Speedy:

And whereas the said James Groves Speedy has resigned his trusteeship, and David Graham Speedy, of Herbertville, is willing to act as trustee in his stead:

And whereas it is desirable to revoke the said Order in Council of the twenty-eighth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, as to the said James Groves Speedy, and to substitute as trustee in his place the said David Graham Speedy:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by “The Harbours Act Amendment Act, 1883,” and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby revoke the said Order in Council of the twenty-eighth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, in so far as the same relates to the said James Groves Speedy, and in his stead doth hereby appoint the said David Graham Speedy to be trustee under the said Order in Council, jointly with the said William Walter Scot Hales and Charles Herbert.

Regulations under “The Opium Prohibition Act, 1901,” and “The Opium Prohibition Act Amendment Act, 1906.”

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred on him by “The Opium Prohibition Act, 1901,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand doth hereby make the following regulations for the purposes of that Act and “The Opium Prohibition Act Amendment Act, 1906”:

REGULATIONS.

  1. The book which by section 2 of “The Opium Prohibition Act Amendment Act, 1906,” is required to be kept by every person who purchases opium from the holder of a permit shall be in the form in the Schedule hereto, and he shall from time to time enter or cause to be entered therein the following particulars:—
    (1.) The quantity and description of opium purchased, the date of the purchase, and the name of the seller.
    (2.) How the opium so purchased has been disposed of, whether by process of manufacture or by sale.
    (a.) If by process of manufacture the entry shall state the amount and description of opium used, and the purpose for which it is intended to be used, together with the date of such disposition.
    (b.) If by sale the entry shall state the amount and description of opium sold, together with the date of such sale, and the name and address of the purchaser, and every such entry shall be verified by the signature of such purchaser.

  2. The person keeping such book shall at all reasonable times produce the same for the inspection of any Collector or other officer of Customs or any other person appointed by the Minister of Customs, and shall allow stock to be taken of all opium in his possession, and also shall truly answer any questions put to him by such inspecting officer or person respecting the entries in such book.

Rural Lands in Auckland Land District open for Sale or Selection.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section one hundred and thirty-six of “The Land Act, 1892,” and section two of “The Bush and Swamp Crown Lands Settlement Act, 1903,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare and provide as follows, that is to say:—

  1. The rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto are hereby set apart for disposal by way of sale or selection on and after the twentieth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and seven, at the respective prices specified in the said Schedule.

  2. The said lands may be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on lease in perpetuity: provided that in the case of lands containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, they shall be selected on lease in perpetuity only and shall not be purchased for cash.

  3. For the purposes of “The Bush and Swamp Crown Lands Settlement Act, 1903,” the lands enumerated in the said Schedule hereto shall be deemed to be “heavy-bush land.”
