THE following notice, received from the Chairman of
the Opotiki County Council, is published in accordance
with the provisions of "The Local Bodies' Loans Act
1901."

OPOTIKI COUNTY COUNCIL.
In the matter of "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1901," and
amendments.
PUBLIC notice is hereby given that at a poll of ratepayers of
the Opotiki County, taken on Saturday, the 13th October,
1906, upon the proposal of the Opotiki County Council to
raise a special loan of £6,000 from the Government for a
term of forty-one years at 4 per centum for road-making in
the Opotiki County, the number of votes recorded for and
against the proposal was as follows :-
Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 181 ; number of
votes recorded against the proposal, 79.
As the total number of valid votes recorded for the pro-
posa! exceeds three-fifths of the total number of valid votes
recorded at the poll, I hereby declare the said proposal to be
carried.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the
undermentioned local authorities have by special
order declared the plants enumerated opposite each to be
noxious weeds within the meaning of "The Noxious Weeds
Act, 1900," in the district under the jurisdiction of each re-
spectively:-

RESULT of poll taken on the 15th day of October, 1906, on a
proposal to borrow £25,000, or, as an alternative, £20,000,
or, as a further alternative, £10,000, under "The Local
Bodies' Loans Act, 1901," and its amendments, for the fol-
lowing works, viz. :—
Proposal No. 1.
To complete the present drainage scheme .. 7,000
To extend the present scheme to include
streets excluded from original scheme and 13,000
streets recently constructed
To provide a sum to be loaned for private 5,000
connections

Proposal No. 2.
To complete the present drainage scheme .. 7,000
To extend the present scheme to include
streets excluded from original scheme and 11,500
recently constructed
To provide a sum to be loaned for private 1,500
connections

Proposal No. 3.
To complete the present drainage scheme .. 7,000
To provide a sum to be loaned for private 3,000
connections

Votes recorded in favour of No. 1 proposal, 168 ; votes
recorded against No. 1 proposal, 207 ; majority against, 39.
Votes recorded in favour of No. 2 proposal, 88 ; votes
recorded against No. 2 proposal, 212 ; majority against, 124.
Votes recorded in favour of No. 3 proposal, 95 ; votes
recorded against No. 3 proposal, 202 ; majority against, 107.
I therefore declare each of the above proposals to be lost.
