Notice of Acceptance of Complete Specifications.

Patent Office,
Wellington, 3rd October, 1906.

COMPLETE specifications relating to the undermentioned applications for Letters Patent have been accepted, and are open to public inspection at this office. Any person may, at any time within two months from the date of this Gazette, give me notice in writing of opposition to the grant of any such patent. Such notice must set forth the particular grounds of objection, and be in duplicate. A fee of 10s. is payable thereon.

No. 20282.—7th November, 1905.—JOHN GEORGE OATES, of Carterton, New Zealand, Farmer. An improved sporting telegraph.*

Claims.—(1.) The improved sporting telegraph, comprising a number of plates centrally mounted upon rods, carried in a frame so as to be free to rotate in a plane at right angles to the rods, and means whereby the plates may be independently locked from rotation at any desired point in the plane of rotation, substantially as specified. (2.) The improved sporting telegraph, comprising a frame with rods extending across it, plates mounted upon such rods in such a manner as to be free to rotate in a plane at right angles thereto, collars upon the rods, one adjacent to the edge of each plate and formed with notches in its periphery, and a spring bolt upon each plate on its edge adjacent to the respective collar, the inner end of which bolt is kept in engagement with the periphery of the collar, substantially as specified. (3.) The improved racing telegraph, substantially as described and explained, and as illustrated in the drawings.

No. 20335.—20th November, 1905.—JOHN RUTHERFORD PARK, of 55 Lambton Quay, Wellington, New Zealand, Registered Patent Agent, nominee of William Beamish, of Cromwell, Otago, New Zealand, Dredgeman. Improved shackle.*

Claims.—(1.) The combination with a U-shaped shackle having a key-hole slot at the end of one of its arms, of a spring on such arm to retain the head of the shackle-bolt in the narrow part of the key-hole slot, substantially as described. (2.) The complete shackle, substantially as described or illustrated in the drawings.

No. 20342.—21st November, 1905.—JAMES TROUNSON, of Kaihu, New Zealand, Timber-merchant. A scrub and fern cutter.*

Claim.—A scrub and fern cutter, the same consisting of a cylinder carried upon a horizontal axis supported by a frame, and provided with knives secured transversely upon its periphery in parallel lines, and with their cutting-edges projecting outwards therefrom, substantially as specified.

No. 20357.—23rd November, 1905.—ALFRED HENRY ALLEN, of 3 Melton Road, King’s Heath, Worcester, England, Painter. Improvements in blow-lamps or burning-off torches for the use of painters, plumbers, and the like.

Extract from Specification.—In carrying out the invention, the usual reservoir and pump are employed, but the pump, instead of being placed within the bottom of the reservoir as is usually the case, is mounted outside and on the top thereof, thereby providing for a direct pressure upon the liquid within the reservoir. The usual dish employed in this class of lamp for containing spirits or the like for starting the vaporization of the fuel is dispensed with, and a perforated button is employed, through which the fuel is sprayed into the burner to allow of its ignition.

No. 20400.—29th November, 1905.—EDWARD WRIGLEY, of Auckland, New Zealand, Engineer. A machine for use in splitting and splaying the ends of metal bars.*

Claims.—(1.) In means for splitting and splaying the ends of metal bars, a pair of shear-plates secured upon the adjacent faces of two levers pivoted on a fixed axis, and so disposed as to keep the faces of the shear-plates in close
