Lands withdrawn from State Forests.
PLUNKET, Governor.
A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the lands specified in the first column of the Schedule hereto are State forests under the control of the Commissioner of State Forests appointed under “The New Zealand State Forests Act, 1885” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), and the said lands are now no longer required for State-forest purposes: And whereas plans showing the extent and position of the said lands, and a statement of the reasons why they are no longer required for State-forest purposes, have been laid before both Houses of Parliament for a period of thirty days, and no resolution has been passed by either of such Houses objecting to the issue of this Proclamation:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred by “The New Zealand State Forests Act Amendment Act, 1888,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby revoke the Proclamation specified in the second column of the Schedule hereto, so far as it relates to the lands described in the first column of the Schedule hereto, as from the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette; and doth hereby proclaim and declare that from and after such date the parcels of land described in the first column of the Schedule hereto shall be no longer subject to the provisions of the said Act.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.

| All that area in the Southland Land District, containing by estimation 5,200 acres, being portion of the Otapiri Forest, situated in Hokonui Survey District, being Sections Nos. 825, 826, 827, 828, 831, 832, 833, 834, 835, 836, 837, 838, 842, 844, and 845, Hokonui Survey District; the forest adjoining the north-eastern boundaries of the two last-mentioned sections; and the forest within Sections Nos. 823, 824, and 839, Hokonui Survey District. | Proclamation dated the 24th February, 1886, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 11, of the 4th March, 1886. |
Also all that area in the Southland Land District, containing by estimation 5,800 acres, being portion of the Hokonui Forest, situated in Forest Hill Survey District, commencing at a point on the north-east boundary-line of Section No. 133, Forest Hill Survey District, distant 2335 links in a south-easterly direction from the northernmost corner of the said section, and proceeding thence along a line due north to the edge of the forest, and following round its margin to the northern boundary-line of Forest Hill Survey District; thence westerly along that boundary-line to the north-eastern corner of Section No. 356 of the said district; thence by that section and across and by the road forming the northern boundary of Sections Nos. 372 and 371 of the said district to the north-western corner of the last-mentioned section: thence by Sections Nos. 370, 369, and 367 of the said district to the south-eastern corner of the last-mentioned section; thence across and by a road-line and by Sections Nos. 362 and 358 of the said district to the southernmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence by Sections Nos. 360, 363, 166, 365, and 364 of the said district to the north-eastern corner of the last-mentioned section; thence across and by a road-line to the north-eastern corner of Section No. 325 of the said district; thence along the north-east boundary-line of the last-mentioned section and the forest margin fronting that section and Section No. 54 of the said district; thence along the forest margin fronting the western, northern, eastern, and southern boundaries of Section No. 169 of the said district to Section No. 221 of the said district; thence by that section and by Section No. 133 aforesaid to the point of commencement: excluding from the above-described area Sections Nos. 373 and 374, Forest Hill Survey District. |
Also all that area in the Southland Land District, containing by estimation 2,880 acres, being portion of the Hokonui Forest, situated in Forest Hill Survey District, being all the unsurveyed forest land lying between Sections Nos. 221 and 133, Forest Hill Survey District, on the north; Sections Nos. 215, 119, 201, 80, 14, 340, and 341 of the said district, on the east; Sections Nos. 68, 186, and a settlers' reserve of the said district, on the south; and Sections Nos. 189, 190, 192, 323, of the said district, a road-line, and Sections Nos. 142 and 53 of the said district, on the west. |
Also all that area in the Southland Land District, containing by estimation 14,500 acres, being portion of the Hokonui Forest, situated in Waimumu, Lindhurst, and Forest Hill Survey Districts, commencing at a point 600 links north and 1500 links west of the south-western corner of Section No. 32, Waimumu Survey District; thence following the margin of the bush till it meets the southern boundary-line of Section No. 18 of the said district; thence following the said boundary-line to the south-eastern corner of that section; thence along the south-western boundaries of Sections Nos. 33 and 11 of the said district, and along the north-western and western boundaries of Original Section No. 4a of the said district to the southern boundary-line of Waimumu Survey District; thence along the northern and western boundaries of Section No. 1 of 148, Lindhurst Survey District; thence along the northern boundary of Section No. 2 (area, 2,049 acres 3 roods 23 perches), Lindhurst Survey District, by the abutment of a road, by the northern boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 18 and 17, Block I., of the said district, by the abutment of a road, by the northern boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 11 and 9, Block I., of the said district, by the abutment of a road, and by the northern boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 8 and 1, Block I., of the said district, to the western boundary-line of the Lindhurst Survey District; thence along a line due south to Section No. 86, Forest Hill Survey District, and along its northern boundary-line to the edge of the forest; thence following that margin to a point 3000 links due west of the south-western corner of Waimumu Survey District (exclusive of the portions situated in Sections Nos. 199, 200, 174, and 223, Forest Hill Survey District); thence along a line due east to the said south-western corner, and its continuation for a distance of 3500 links, or thereabouts; thence along a line due north to the edge of the forest, and following round its margin to a point immediately opposite to the termination of the last-mentioned line, and thereafter by the same line continued due north for a distance of 33000 links; and thence along a line running due east, 3000 links, to commencing-point. |
Be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 48559/22, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon bordered red. |
