No. 19755.—19th July, 1905.—WALTER JAMES JEFFERIS, of Waerenga, New Zealand, Farmer. Improvements in milking-appliances.*
Brief Description. — A cylinder is provided, one end of which is connected by a pipe to the compressed-air tank, while the other end is similarly connected to the vacuum-tank. This latter end of the cylinder is also connected by a pipe to the milk-receptacle so that such receptacle is in permanent connection with the vacuum-tank. The teat-cup is in connection in the ordinary way with the milk-receptacle. The space enclosed by its lining is connected by means of a pipe with the cylinder near the end that is connected to the compressed-air tank. Connection with such space and the air-tank is thus obtained. An orifice is formed in the wall of the cylinder at a point opposite the exit of the pipe leading to the teat-cup lining. Within the cylinder fits a plunger provided with a piston-rod passing out one end thereof and reciprocated so as to work the plunger back and forth within the cylinder by any suitable means. This plunger about midway in its length is formed with a groove cut round its peripheral face.
[NOTE.—The above extract from the provisional specification is inserted in place of the claims.]
