COMPLETE specifications relating to the undermentioned applications for Letters Patent have been accepted, and are open to public inspection at this office. Any person may, at any time within two months from the date of this Gazette, give me notice in writing of opposition to the grant of any such patent. Such notice must set forth the particular grounds of objection, and be in duplicate. A fee of 10s. is payable thereon.
No. 18772.—19th November, 1904.—HARRY ALBERT ATKINSON, of 35, Carlton Street, Christchurch, New Zealand, Life-insurance Agent. An improved fitting for utilising blinds in covering in part or entirely windows, window-openings, doorways, or other places or positions where screens of this nature may be used.*
Claim.—The movable frame or bar constructed of wood or any suitable material or materials, and made for the purpose of being hung or otherwise held to a window, window-opening, doorway, or other place or position where required, and to have suspended from it or otherwise attached to it a blind or blinds, together with such gear as may be used in raising or lowering, closing, opening, rolling, folding, or otherwise manipulating such blind or blinds according to the nature of such.

No. 18927.—9th January, 1905.—CHARLES EDWARD LOWE, of Motueka, New Zealand, Manager. An improved machine for cleaning and for stripping currants and the like from their stalks.*

Claims.—(1.) In means for cleaning and for stripping fruits from their stalks—an endless travelling belt carried on rollers arranged in a frame, one at each end thereof, and mounted one higher than the other, and a roller mounted in the frame parallel to and a slight distance above the upper belt-carrying roller, and means whereby such two rollers may be caused to rotate in the same direction, substantially as specified. (2.) The general arrangement, construction, and combination of parts in my machine for cleaning and for stripping currants and the like from their stalks, as described and explained, as illustrated in the drawings, and for the several purposes set forth.

Claim.—The improved means for automatically drawing off water contained in the bottoms of tanks on an inflow of fresh water, consisting in a length of piping bent over and placed vertically within the tank with one member passing through the bottom thereof, while the other approaches close to the bottom or is attached thereto and formed with notches or perforations in its extremity, substantially as specified.
