Vesting Control of Mangarere Bridge over the Rangitikei River in the Kiwitea County Council, and apportioning the Cost of Maintenance.

PLUNKET, Governor.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and nineteen of “The Public Works Act, 1905” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may, upon the terms and conditions in the said section mentioned, by Warrant under his hand publicly notified and gazetted, direct that any bridge already constructed, or which may be hereafter constructed, over or across any river or arm of the sea respectively shall, from and after a date to be fixed in such Warrant, be under the exclusive care, control, and management of such local authority as shall be mentioned in that behalf in such Warrant; and may by such Warrant as aforesaid fix and determine whether all or any, and if so what part, of the cost, whether theretofore incurred or thereafter to be incurred, of maintaining, repairing, improving, or reconstructing any such bridge is to be provided and paid by the local authority or local authorities, and, if so, by what local authority or authorities; and may by any such Warrant as aforesaid direct how, when, and to whom any such payment is to be made:
And whereas it is expedient to make provision under the said Act for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter set forth:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby direct that the bridge mentioned in the Schedule hereto, and known as the Mangarere Bridge over the Rangitikei River, shall, from and after the date of this Warrant, be under the exclusive care and control and management of the Kiwitea County Council; and in further pursuance of the aforesaid powers and authorities I do hereby fix and determine that the cost of maintaining, repairing, improving, or reconstructing the said bridge shall be borne by the Kiwitea County Council and the Rangitikei County Council in the proportion of one-half of the cost each respectively.
And I do hereby also further direct that any contribution hereby required to be made as aforesaid by the Council of the Rangitikei County shall be paid from time to time in the proportion herein prescribed out of the funds of the said county, within a period of thirty days after demand in writing made by or on behalf of the Council of Kiwitea County, and all such payments shall be made from time to time to the Clerk of the said Council for and on account of such Council.

SCHEDULE.
THAT bridge over the Rangitikei River on the boundaries of the Counties of Rangitikei and Kiwitea, and known as the Mangarere Bridge; as the site of the said bridge is delineated upon the plan marked R. 3002, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and shown thereon in red colour.

Warrant authorising the Council of the Borough of Cambridge to construct a High-level Bridge over the Waikato River, within the Borough of Cambridge, and apportioning the Cost.

PLUNKET, Governor.
WHEREAS by section two hundred and nineteen of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that in any case where the Council of any borough desires to construct, lengthen, or wholly or partially rebuild, or make approaches or protective works to, a bridge in any position that will, in its opinion, be of advantage or benefit to the whole or any considerable portion of the inhabitants of an adjacent borough or county or other district, as well as to the inhabitants of its own district, and where it is, in the opinion of such Council, reasonable that the local authority of such adjacent district should contribute to the cost of constructing or establishing any such work, the provisions of the said section shall have effect:
And whereas the Council of the Borough of Cambridge did duly give notice and take the steps required by the said section and the regulations thereunder, and did make application to me to authorise the construction of the bridge and approaches mentioned in the Schedule to a Warrant dated the thirteenth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and four, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the fifteenth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and four, page 2209:
And whereas it has been found necessary to amend the plan of the said bridge, and the Council of the Borough of Cambridge has again given notice and taken the steps required by the said Act, and has made further application to me to authorise the construction of the bridge and approaches mentioned in the Schedule hereto (hereinafter referred to as “the said bridge”), and to apportion the cost of constructing the said bridge between the said Council and the local authorities of the adjacent districts, as specified in the said notice:
And whereas no objection has been made to such application: And whereas I am of opinion that the work should be done:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, do hereby revoke the above-recited Warrant dated the thirteenth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and four, and do hereby authorise the Council of the Borough of Cambridge to execute the work at a cost not exceeding eleven thousand three hundred and seventy-five pounds; and I do hereby declare that the cost of the work, less such contribution as may be made thereto (if any) by the Government of New Zealand, shall be borne by the Council of the Borough of Cambridge, as the constructing local authority, and by the respective Councils of the Waipa County, the Piako County, the Waikato County, and the Pukekura Road Board, as contributing local authorities, in the following proportions, viz.:—
The Council of the Borough of Cambridge to bear thirty per centum of such cost, the Council of the Waipa County to bear fifteen per centum of such cost, the Council of the Piako County to bear fifteen per centum of such cost, the Council of the Waikato County to bear ten per centum of such cost, and the Pukekura Road Board to bear thirty per centum of such cost.
The proportions of the contributing local authorities to be paid by instalments as the work proceeds in manner provided by the said regulations.

SCHEDULE.
THAT bridge over the Waikato River, and known as the Cambridge High-level Bridge, abutting on the right bank of the said river at a point due south from the westernmost corner of Section 7, Town of Cambridge East; thence across the said river in the direction of the northernmost corner of Section 73, Town of Cambridge West, in the Auckland Land District: as the site of the said bridge and approaches is more particularly delineated on the plan marked R. 458, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and shown in red thereon.

JOSEPH STUDHAM WORTHINGTON
to be a Trustee, in the place of Joseph Orlando William Gough, deceased, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Parua Bay Public Cemetery, in conjunction with the other persons previously appointed by His Excellency the Governor.
