Notice to Mariners No. 32 of 1906.

ACHERON POINT BREASTWORK (AUCKLAND).

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 10th April, 1906.

THE Auckland Harbour Board reports that large quantities of rock are being deposited off Acheron Point, Freeman’s Bay, to form a breastwork about 2,000 ft. in length from high-water mark. A wall of rock is also being made from the breastwork 500 ft. in an easterly direction. Masters of vessels are warned against navigating or anchoring their vessels near these works.

Notice to Mariners No. 33 of 1906.

MANUKAU HARBOUR.—SOUNDINGS IN CHANNELS.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 11th April, 1906.

THE Harbourmaster at Manukau reports that recent soundings show very little difference in the depth of water in the South Channel, but found one small ridge with a little over 2 fathoms at L.W.O.S., with the beacons in line. For some time this ridge has had 2½ fathoms at L.W.O.S. The main channel is improving in depth, there being 4¾ fathoms at L.W.O.S. where formerly there was 4½ fathoms.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Hon. the Commissioner of Trade and Customs has decided to interpret the Customs and Excise Duties Acts in relation to the undermentioned articles as follows:—

NOTE.—“Not otherwise enumerated” appears as n.o.e.; “other kinds” as o.k.; “articles and materials suited only for, and to be used solely in, the fabrication of goods in the colony” as a. & m.s. Articles marked thus * are revised decisions.

Free.
