Reserves in Marlborough Land District for Lease by Public
Tender.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders will be
received at this office up to 4 p.m. on Wednesday,
the 18th day of April, 1906, for leases of the undermentioned
reserves, under the provisions of “The Public Reserves Act,
1881.”

Description and Locality of Reserves.
1 of 73.—About 8 acres flat, balance broken, hilly land ;
all bush; good soil, well watered; all milling-timber has
been removed. Accessible by road about half a mile from
main Blenheim-Nelson coach-road, and about forty miles
from Blenheim.
2 of 73.—All flat terrace land; all bush; good soil, well
watered; all milling-timber has been removed. Accessible
by road about half a mile from main Blenheim-Nelson coach-
road, and about forty miles from Blenheim.
3 of 73.—Sloping terrace land; all bush; good soil, well
watered; all milling-timber has been removed. Accessible
by road about a quarter of a mile. from Blenheim-Nelson
coach-road, and about forty miles from Blenheim.
4 of 73.—Sloping terrace land; all bush; good soil, well
watered; all milling-timber has been taken. Accessible by
road about 6 chains from Blenheim-Nelson coach-road, and
about forty miles from Blenheim.
5 of 73.—Sloping terrace land ; all bush ; good soil, well
watered. Accessible by road about 2 chains from Blenheim-
Nelson coach-road, and about forty miles from Blenheim.
6 of 73.—About 7 acres sloping terrace; balance steep
broken country. Soil light, well watered; all milling-
timber has been removed. About 7 chains from Blenheim-
Nelson coach-road, and about forty miles from Blenheim.
CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

  1. Tenders must be accompanied by marked cheque or
    post-office order for six months’ rent at the rate offered,
    together with £1 1s. lease fee, and addressed to the Commis-
    sioner of Crown Lands, Blenheim.
  2. No declaration is required, and residence and improve-
    ments are not compulsory. No compensation shall be
    claimed by the lessee, nor shall any be allowed by the
    Government, on account of any improvements effected by
    the lessee, nor for any other cause.
  3. Possession will be given on the day of acceptance of
    tender.
  4. The lease shall be for the term of fourteen years, but
    shall be subject to termination by twelve months’ notice in
    the event of the land being required by the Government.
  5. The rent shall be payable half-yearly in advance.
  6. The lessee shall not sublet, transfer, or otherwise dispose
    of the land comprised in the lease, except with the written
    consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands first had and
    obtained.
  7. The land shall not be cropped or broken up, except with
    the consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.
  8. The lessee shall destroy all rabbits on the land, and he
    shall prevent their increase or spread, to the satisfaction of
    the Commissioner of Crown Lands.
  9. The lessee shall prevent the growth and spread of gorse,
    broom, and sweetbriar on the land comprised in the lease;
    and he shall with all reasonable despatch remove, or cause
    to be removed, all gorse, sweetbriar, broom, or other noxious
    weeds or plants, as may be directed by the Commissioner of
    Crown Lands.
  10. The lease shall be liable to forfeiture in case the lessee
    shall fail to fulfil any of the conditions of the said lease
    within thirty days after the date on which the same ought
    to be fulfilled.

    This section is situated in the Tablelands Settlement,
    about eight miles from Martinborough by a good dray-road.
    It comprises flat and downs in English and native grasses,
    subdivided into eight paddocks, garden, and orchard.
    There are a few patches of manuka scrub, covering an
    area of about 20 acres. About one-half of the section is
    ploughable. The soil is good, on a limestone and sandstone
    formation. This section is well watered by the Wangaehu
    and other streams. The elevation ranges from about 400 ft.
    to 800 ft. above sea-level. The improvements which are
    included in the price of the land comprise about 631 acres
    in artificial grass, half-value of about 64 chains of boundary-
    fences, and about 328 chains of interior subdivisional fences,
    the whole valued at £861. The improvements which do not
    go with the land are cottage and outbuildings, woolshed,
    wool-store, sheep yards and dip, men’s house, stable and
    shed, stock-yard and house, the whole valued at £947,
    repayable by the lessee in fourteen years.

    Village-homestead Allotment in Manunui Village Settlement,
    Wellington Land District, open for Selection on Lease in
    Perpetuity.

    Wellington, 4th April, 1906.
    NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned
    village-homestead allotment will be open for selection on lease in perpetuity, at this office, on Wednesday,
    the 30th day of May, 1906, under the provisions of Part IV
    of “The Land Act, 1892.”
    If more than one application is received for the section
    on the same day, the order of selection shall be decided
    by ballot.

    Manunui Village Settlement is situated on the North
    Island Main Trunk Railway about 180 miles from Auckland,
    five miles from Taumarunui, and three miles north of
    Piriaka Township.

    Wellington, 23rd January, 1906.
    NOTICE is hereby given, in pursuance of section 240 of
    “The Land Act, 1892,” that the undermentioned
    lands will be disposed of to the holders of adjoining lands,
    under section 114 of the said Act, on or after Thursday, the
    26th day of April, 1906.
