as the Board shall think fit.

Nearly all broken fern land, with a few clumps of light
mixed bush in gullies; soil inferior and of a light sandy
nature. About a mile from Oropi, and thirteen miles from
Tauranga—twelve miles being by Tauranga—Rotorua coach-
road.

this twenty-second day of February, one thousand
nine hundred and six.

Rural Land in Auckland Land District open for Selection
on Lease in Perpetuity.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth
section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, William Lee, Baron
Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
having received the report of the Surveyor-General in
this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby
declare that the rural land described in the Schedule hereto
shall be open for selection on and after the twenty-fifth
day of April, one thousand nine hundred and six; and
also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may be
selected on lease in perpetuity only, in accordance with the
provisions of section one hundred and twenty-one of the
said Act, as it contains, or is supposed to contain, metals,
minerals, or valuable stone; and I do hereby also fix the
price at which the said land shall be leased, as mentioned
in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land
shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of “The
Land Act, 1892.”

Weighted with £257 10s., valuation for improvements,
consisting of house, fencing, ploughing, and grassing.
Situated in Papamoa No. 2 Special Settlement Block,
about eleven miles from Tauranga. Soil light, but of fair
quality; well watered; rather broken land, nearly all
ploughed, and laid down in grass; remainder burnt, and
surface-sown.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-seventh day of February, one thou-
sand nine hundred and six.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by section one hundred and thirty-
six of “The Land Act, 1892,” and section 2 of “The Bush
and Swamp Crown Lands Settlement Act, 1903,” I, William
Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, do hereby declare and provide as follows, that is to
say:—

  1. The rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto
    are hereby set apart for disposal by way of selection on and
    after the twenty-fifth day of April, one thousand nine hundred
    and six, at the rentals specified in the said Schedule.
  2. The said lands may be selected on lease in perpetuity
    only, as provided by section one hundred and twenty-one of
    “The Land Act, 1892,” as they contain or are supposed to
    contain, metal, mineral, or valuable stone, and shall not be
    purchased for cash.
  3. For the purposes of “The Bush and Swamp Crown
    Lands Settlement Act, 1903,” the lands enumerated in the
    said Schedule hereto shall be deemed to be “scrub land.”
  4. No general rate shall be levied or collected by any local
    authority from the said lands for the period of two years
    from the date from which in each case respectively such lands
    are disposed of, and no local authority shall have power to
    levy or collect any such rate from such lands during such
    period.
  5. After the first half-year’s rent has been paid by the
    selector the further instalments of rent payable by him
    for a period of two years shall not be demanded: provided
    that if at any time during the first five years of his occu-
    pancy the selector disposes of his interest in the land the
    rent so conceded shall be paid by him in full, and thereupon
    the Land Board may remit such instalments of rent payable
    by the incoming tenant, not exceeding in the aggregate the
    amount of rent previously conceded to the selector, as the
    Board shall think fit.

fern country, with several narrow flats on Section 2; soil of
a light porous nature, resting on clay subsoil; well watered
by Waitao Stream. Situated about eleven miles from Tau-
ranga by cart-road.

TAURANGA COUNTY.—OTANEWAINUKU SURVEY DISTRICT.

Contains about 8 acres light bush; balance broken fern
land; bush comprises scrub, tea-tree, and rewarewa; soil of
a light porous nature, resting on clay subsoil; well watered.
Thirteen miles from Tauranga.
