running between the Ruamahanga and Waipoua Rivers and east of the latter river to the Mataihiwi Road, thence by a line south-westerly to the Upper Plain Road, and by that road to the Borough of Masterton, including the Borough of Masterton.
WAIRARAPA.
Wairarapa District comprises the Counties of Castlepoint, Wairarapa South, and Featherston, the Wainuioru and Upper Taueru Ridings of Masterton County, together with those portions of Rangitumau, Te Whiti, and Opaki Ridings not included in the Masterton District hereinbefore described, and also the Boroughs of Carterton and Greytown.
OTAKI.
Otaki District comprises the County of Horowhenua, together with the portion of Awahou Riding of Manawatu County south of the Borough of Foxton and the Foxton-Moutoa Road, the southern portion of the Taonui Riding of Kai-ranga County lying to the south-east of the Palmerston North - Oroua Bridge Road and south of the Wellington - Palmerston North Railway, also the southern portion of the Fitzherbert Riding bounded on the north generally by the Manawatu Bridge Road, Sections 215, 216, 217, 220, 221, 223, 224, and the Palmerston-Pahiatua Road, also that portion of the Hutt County bounded towards the south-east generally by the Mungaroa Riding of the said county to Section No. 196, Block IV, Belmont District, thence by Sections Nos. 196, 196A, 265, 264, 263, 437, 436, 431, 336, 341, 338, 340, 339, 331, 330, 329, 27, 7, 6, and 50 to the Wellington-Porirua Road, by that road to the Porirua Asylum Reserve, by the southern and western boundaries of that reserve and the southern boundaries of Wairere Nos. 2 and 1 Blocks to the sea. The Borough of Levin is included in this district, and Kapiti and Mana Islands.
HUTT.
Hutt District comprises the portion of the Hutt County bounded towards the north-west generally by the Otaki District hereinbefore described to Section No. 6, Block VII, Port Nicholson Survey District, thence by Sections Nos. 6, 4, 3, 2, 1, 38, 19, 18, 17, 13, 10, 8, 7, and 78 to the Korokoro Stream, by that stream to the western boundary of the Borough of Petone, and by the said western boundary to Port Nicholson; together with the Boroughs of Petone, Lower Hutt, and Eastbourne.
WELLINGTON NORTH.
Wellington North District comprises that portion of the City of Wellington situated north-west of a line which commences at the south-western corner of that part of the City of Wellington known as Kelburne (formerly Upland Farm), and proceeds easterly and northerly along the southern and eastern boundaries of Kelburne to the northern boundary of Native Reserve; thence easterly along the northern boundary of Native Reserve and through Plantation Reserve to Town Acre 436; thence southerly along the western boundaries of Town Acres 436, 435, 434, 433, 432, and 431; thence easterly along the southern boundary of Town Acre 431 to Woolcombe Street; thence northerly along Woolcombe Street to Dixon Street; thence easterly along Dixon Street to Cuba Street; and thence northerly along Cuba Street to Lambton Harbour. This district also includes Somes Island.
WELLINGTON CENTRAL.
Wellington Central District comprises that portion of the City of Wellington bounded towards the north-west by the Wellington North District hereinbefore described; towards the north-east by Lambton Harbour to a point opposite the Te Aro Railway-station; towards the east by a line along Tory Street to Buckle Street; thence towards the south by a line along Buckle Street and Arthur Street to Cuba Street; along Cuba Street to Webb Street; thence along Webb Street to Upper Willis Street; along Upper Willis Street to Wordsworth Street; thence along Words-worth Street to Happy Valley Road; thence along Happy Valley Road about 35 chains to a point in line with the southern boundary-line of Native Reserve; thence by a right line to and along the southern boundary of Native Reserve and that boundary produced to the western boundary of the City of Wellington; and thence towards the west by the western boundary of the City of Wellington to the Wellington North District, the place of commencement.
WELLINGTON EAST.
Wellington East District comprises that portion of the City of Wellington bounded towards the north-west by Lambton Harbour from a point opposite the Te Aro Railway-station to Point Jerningham; thence towards the east by Evans Bay to the northern boundary of that part of the City of Wellington known as Kilbirnie; thence by the northern and western boundaries of Kilbirnie to a point in line with Mein Street; thence towards the south-east by a line to and along Mein Street to Revans Street; thence towards the west along Revans Street to John Street; thence along John Street and Oliver Street to Crawford Street; and thence along Crawford Street, Tasman Street, Banks Terrace, and Tory Street to Lambton Harbour.
WELLINGTON SOUTH.
Wellington South District comprises that portion of the City of Wellington bounded towards the north by the Wellington Central and Wellington East Districts hereinbefore described, from the western boundary of the City of Wellington to a point on the western boundary of that portion of the City of Wellington known as Kilbirnie in line with the middle of Mein Street; thence towards the east by the said Kilbirnie to the north-eastern corner of Allotment 10, Town Belt; thence towards the south by the said Allotment 10 to Coromandel Street; thence by a line across Coromandel Street, and along Lawrence Street to Daniell Street; thence along Daniell Street to Rhodes Street; thence along Rhodes Street and across Mansfield Street to Russell Terrace; thence along Russell Terrace to Waripouri Street; thence along Waripouri Street to Allotment 28; thence by the said Allotment 28, the abutment of Stanley Street, and Allotment 26 to Section 18, Ohiro District; thence by the said Section 18 to Ohiro Road; thence northerly along the Ohiro Road to the northern boundary of Section 14 in Block X, Port Nicholson Survey District; thence by the said Section 14 to the western boundary of the City of Wellington; and thence towards the west by the western boundary of the City of Wellington to the Wellington Central District, the place of commencement. This district includes Vogeltown, Brooklyn, and Fitchett-town.
WELLINGTON SUBURBS.
Wellington Suburbs District is bounded towards the north by Wairere Nos. 1 and 2 Blocks from the sea to the Porirua Asylum Reserve, thence by the said Porirua Asylum Reserve to the Wellington-Porirua Road, thence by that road to the southern corner of Section No. 51, Block II, Belmont Survey District; thence by Sections 51 and 8, Block II; thence towards the east generally by Sections 7, 5, 36, 37, 23, 20, 16, 15, 14, 12, 11, and 9, and the Korokoro Stream to the Borough of Petone; thence by the Borough of Petone to Port Nicholson; thence by Port Nicholson to the City of Wellington; thence by the City of Wellington to the southern boundary of Wellington South District hereinbefore described; thence by the Wellington South and Wellington East Districts to Evans Bay, thence by Evans Bay and Port Nicholson; and towards the south and west by the sea to the place of commencement. This district includes the Boroughs of Karori, Onslow, and Miramar, and Johnsonville Town District.
Proposed Boundaries of the Electoral Districts in the South Island (including Stewart Island) of New Zealand.
THE South Island Representation Commission, appointed under “The Electoral Act, 1905,” in pursuance of section 10 of the said Act hereby publishes for general information the following proposed boundaries of the electoral districts in the South Island (including Stewart Island); and further gives notice that written objections to the same, addressed to the undersigned, the Chairman of the said Commission, at the office of the Chief Surveyor, Lands and Survey Department, Christchurch, up to noon of Wednesday, the 16th day of January, 1907.
Maps of the proposed districts may be seen at the offices of the several local bodies in the said South Island (including Stewart Island); of the Chief Surveyors at Dunedin, Christchurch, Nelson, Blenheim, Hokitika, and Invercargill; of the Chief Electoral Officer at Wellington; and of the several Registrars of Electors throughout the South Island aforesaid (including Stewart Island).
Such objections as may be lodged will be considered by the Commission on Thursday, the 17th day of January, 1907, at 10 o’clock, at the Provincial Council Chamber, Christchurch.
