Notice by the Public Trustee under “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”
To the owner or owners of a parcel of land containing 50 acres, more or less, being Allotment No. 3, Parish of Komokorau, in the Provincial District of Auckland. The land is registered in the name of Philip Myers, described as of Auckland, private in the 4th Waikato Militia, who cannot now be traced. And also to the owner or owners of a parcel of land containing 50 acres, more or less, being Allotment No. 10, Parish of Komokorau, in the Provincial District of Auckland. The land is registered in the name of John McKenzie, described as of Auckland, private in the 3rd Waikato Militia, who cannot now be traced.
WHEREAS the Public Trustee has instituted inquiries, and has not thereby ascertained who the owner or owners of the above-described lands, or either of them, is or are, and believes that such owners respectively are not in the colony:
Now, this notice calls upon such owners respectively, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee their or his respective titles or title to either or both the allotments of land specified in this notice; and, if either or both such owners do not, within the time limited, so establish his or their title, the Public Trustee will exercise the powers and authorities granted to him in and by “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

Examination for Mine-managers’ and Battery Superintendents’ Certificates.

EXAMINATIONS of candidates for certificates as First- and Second-class Mine-managers and Battery Superintendents under “The Mining Act, 1905,” and First- and Second-class Mine-managers under “The Coal-mines Act, 1905,” will be held on Tuesday, the 22nd January, 1907, and following days, at places to be hereafter named. All applications, with necessary certificates, and fee of £1 by post-office order, should be addressed to “The Secretary to the Board of Examiners under the Mining Act [or Coal-mines Act], Wellington,” and must be received before the 22nd December. Forms of application may be obtained at Schools of Mines, Thames, Waihi, and Coromandel, also from Inspectors of Mines, Thames, Westport, and Dunedin.

All applications, with necessary certificates, and fee of £1 by post-office order, should be addressed to “The Secretary to the Board of Examiners under the Mining Act, Wellington,” and must be received before the 3rd January, 1907. Forms of application may be obtained from Inspectors of Mines, Westport and Dunedin.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.
Lands in Selwyn Settlement, Auckland Land District, open for Selection.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned ordinary farms and small grazing-runs will be open for selection, at this office, on Wednesday, the 30th day of January, 1907, under the provisions of “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900,” and amendments. The ordinary farms are offered for lease in perpetuity, and the small grazing-runs for lease for twenty-one years, with right of renewal for a further term of twenty-one years.
If more than one application is received for the same farm or run on the same day, the order of selection shall be decided by ballot.

Agricultural and pastoral land of light loamy nature, on rotten-sandstone formation; generally undulating to a little broken. Altitude, from 500 ft. to 750 ft. above sea-level. An area of 250 acres was surface sown in 1894, but is now overgrown by manuka scrub and fern; balance consists of scrub and fern; about 300 acres readily ploughable; well watered by the Pokaiwhenua Stream, which flows through the section and forms a subdivisional fence. Distant about three miles from Taumangi Railway-station. The improvements, which are included in the price of the land, consist of a half-share in 136 chains of boundary-fencing, valued at £34.

Agricultural and pastoral land of light loamy nature, on sandstone formation; undulating to broken. Altitude, from 500 ft. to 750 ft. above sea-level. About 111 acres in grass, balance fern and manuka. Section to a large extent ploughable. Well watered by Pokaiwhenua Stream and springs. Distant about three miles from Taumangi Railway-station. The improvements, which are included in the price of the land, consist of a half-share in 100 chains of boundary-fencing, valued at £25, and the whole of 18 chains of subdivisional fencing, valued at £9.

Agricultural and pastoral land of light loamy-clay nature, on rhyolite-and-sandstone formation; generally undulating country, and to a large extent ploughable; all in manuka scrub and fern; can be made reproductive by a judicious use of manures; not well watered. Average altitude above sea-level, about 560 ft. Situated within half a mile of Putaruru Railway-station.

Agricultural and pastoral land of light loamy nature, on sandstone-and-rhyolite formation; rather rough in contour for the greater part, but a considerable area is ploughable. Altitude, from 500 ft. to 650 ft. above sea-level. This section is in its natural state, being covered with manuka, scrub, and fern; fairly well watered. Distant one mile from Putaruru Railway-station. The improvements, which are included in the price of the land, consist of half-share in 78 chains of boundary-fencing, valued at £19 10s.

Section 46 contains 392 acres pastoral land of dark loam of good quality, on decomposed rhyolite formation; broken to undulating in character, and steep where the Waiohutu Gorge and Waiomou Stream enter the section. During dry summers the only permanent water is the Waiomou Stream. About 375 acres in good grass, balance in native bush; has been all heavy-forest country, known locally as “kaharoa.” Altitude, about 1,650 ft. above sea-level.
