Special Order made by the Council of the County of Whangarei.

Wellington, 3rd December, 1906.

THE following special order, made by the Whangarei County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, “The Counties Act, 1886,” and its amendments, and “The Rating Act, 1894,” and its amendments.

In pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, and of all other powers it thereto enabling, the Whangarei County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £4,000, authorised to be raised by the Whangarei County Council, under the above-mentioned Acts, for metalling the main county roads in the Mangapai Riding Special-rating District, the said Whangarei County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ¾d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Mangapai Riding Special-rating District, comprising the whole of the Road Districts of Waikiekie and Ruarangi; Sections 1, 2, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, S.E. 70, 71, 72, 66, 73, 74, 75, 77, 78, 76, 84, 142, 85, 86, 98, 99, 101, 102, 103, 104, 135, 135A, 100, 132, 133, 79, 131, of the Parish of Maungakaramea; and all that area forming part of the Mangapai Outlying District of the Riding and Parish of Mangapai, bounded commencing at the south-eastern corner of Native Reserve No. 6676, towards the south by portion of the eastern boundary-line of the Parish of Ruarangi, towards the west generally by the said Ruarangi Parish line continued to its intersection with the southern boundary-line of the Parish of Maungakaramea, towards the north generally by said southern boundary-line of the Parish of Maungakaramea in an easterly direction to the Mangapai River, and towards the east generally by the Mangapai River, and by Sections 29, 28, 25, 26, 35, 36, and 37 of the said Parish of Mangapai to the commencing-point of the said Native Reserve No. 6676: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 12th day of December and the 12th day of June in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

The common seal of the body corporate known as the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Whangarei was hereto affixed and impressed, this 28th day of November, 1906, in the presence of—

We hereby declare that the above special order has been made in accordance with the provisions of “The Counties Act, 1886,” and amendments thereof, and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” such special order being made at a special meeting of the Whangarei County Council on the 25th day of October, 1906; confirmed at a special meeting of the said Council held on the 28th day of November, 1906, and ordered to be published in the New Zealand Gazette.

Results of Polls for Proposed Loans.

BOROUGH OF WANGANUI.

Notice under Section 13 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

I HEREBY publicly notify that at the poll taken on the 28th day of November, 1906, on the proposal of the Wanganui Borough Council to borrow the sum of £40,000 for the construction, under “The Tramways Act, 1894,” and other Acts enabling it in that behalf, of an electric tramway along the streets of the borough, and outside the borough to a point in the Waitotara County on the River-bank Road, and to provide other things incidental thereto, the following votes were recorded: For the proposal, 622; against the proposal, 35; informal, nil.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

BOROUGH OF WANGANUI.

Notice under Section 13 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

I hereby publicly notify that at the poll taken on the 28th day of November, 1906, on the proposal of the Wanganui Borough Council to borrow the sum of £10,000 for extending and enlarging the borough gasworks, the following votes were recorded: For the proposal, 573; against the proposal, 77; informal, 3.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Akaroa County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

AKAROA COUNTY COUNCIL.

PROPOSAL to raise a loan, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the purpose of constructing a flat road between Barry’s Bay and Duvauchelle’s Bay, and a wharf at Onawe Peninsula.

A poll of ratepayers on the above proposal was held at Duvauchelle on Tuesday, 20th November, 1906, with the following result:—

Votes recorded for the proposal, 34; votes recorded against the proposal, 32.

As the votes recorded in favour of the proposal did not amount to three-fifths of the valid votes recorded, I declare the proposal rejected.

RIO DE JANEIRO APPROACH.—CAPE FRIO.—FOG-SIGNAL ESTABLISHED.—The Brazilian Government has given notice that on 15th August, 1906, a fog-horn will be established at Cape Frio Lighthouse, east coast of Brazil, which will give, during thick or foggy weather, one blast of 30 secs. duration every 10 min.
