Tenders for Mail Steam Services between (1) Wellington and Havelock, and (2) Wellington and Motueka.

General Post Office,
Wellington, 27th November, 1906.

SEPARATE TENDERS will be received at the General Post Office, Wellington, until noon of Wednesday, the 5th December, 1906, for the performance of the following mail steam services for a period of THREE years, from the 1st January, 1907, to the 31st December, 1909:—

  1. Wellington, Hikoekoea, (a)Whatanihi, (a)Anakoa Bay, (a)Te Puru, Wakatahuri, Ketu Bay, Bulwer, Elaine Bay, Brightlands, (a)Waimaru, (a)Hopai, (a)Crail Bay, Homewood, (a)Tira-ora, (a)Nydia Bay, Maori Bay, (a)Mahau, and Havelock, fortnightly. (Tenders to be accompanied by a schedule of the maximum fares and freight charges proposed to be levied in the service.)

(a) Called at on return from Havelock only.

  1. Wellington and Motueka (calling fortnightly at Admiralty Bay on voyage from Wellington, also fortnightly at Waikawa Bay on voyage to or from Wellington at master’s option) once weekly each way from the 1st November to the 30th June, and fortnightly from the 1st July to the 31st October in each year.

Motueka is to be the final port of departure of the steamer on the voyage to Wellington. The service to be performed by a steamer of not less than 75 tons register, with a maximum draught of 7 ft., and capable of steaming not less than eight knots an hour. The vessel’s hold or holds to be suitably ventilated, to the satisfaction of the Postmaster-General, for the stowage and carriage of fruit.

Tenderers are required to state the rates to be charged for passengers, for fruit, agricultural, garden, and dairy-produce of all descriptions, and general merchandise.

Tenders, to be indorsed “Tender for Wellington-Havelock Mail-service,” or “Wellington-Motueka Mail-service,” as the case may be, must be made on the printed form of inland mail tender (which may be obtained at any Chief Post-office), and addressed to the Secretary, General Post Office, Wellington.

Names, tonnage, and horse-power of steamers proposed to be used to be stated.

The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.
