that any lands so recommended to be reserved shall be a reserve under the said Act, and thereupon such lands shall be inalienable unless by special Act of Parliament passed in that behalf, and no person shall cut or remove timber or in any way interfere with such lands, or damage the scenic features thereof; and such lands may be fenced, preserved, and conserved intact as and for an inalienable patrimony of the people of New Zealand:

And whereas the Governor has, in pursuance of the powers conferred by the said Act, appointed certain persons to be a Commission for the purposes thereof: And whereas the said Commission has, after making inquiries respecting the same, reported to the Governor and recommended that the parcel of Crown land described in the Schedule hereto should be permanently reserved as a scenic reserve: And whereas it is expedient that the said recommendation should be given effect to:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities aforesaid, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, the parcel of Crown land described in the Schedule hereto shall be a reserve under the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 585 acres, more or less, being Section No. 1 of Block XI., Section No. 2 of Block XIV., and Section No. 1 of Block XV., Tatuā Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west, towards the north, and towards the north-east by the right bank of the Waikato River; thence towards the east by the Tauhara North Block (eastern portion) a distance of 1100 links; thence towards the south-west by right lines with distances of 2800 and 5000 links (as shown on plan hereinafter referred to); thence towards the south-east by right lines with distances of 4000, 6500, 1900, 1900, 4000, 4500, 3000, 2500, 4500, 9000, and 5000 links (as shown on plan hereinafter referred to) to the Patuiwi Reserve; and thence towards the south-west by the said Patuiwi Reserve to the said right bank of the Waikato River aforesaid: exclusive of a road reserve which intersects the above-described area: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 52672/10, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon bordered red.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by “The Scenery Preservation Act, 1903” (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may from time to time appoint such suitable persons, not exceeding five, as he thinks fit to be a Commission under the said Act; such Commission may, if it deems necessary, inspect any lands possessing scenic or historic interest, or on which there are thermal springs, and shall make inquiries respecting the same and report to the Governor, and shall from time to time recommend what lands, whether Crown, private, or Native lands, in their opinion should be permanently reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves; and that the Governor may from time to time, by Proclamation, declare that any lands so recommended to be reserved shall be a reserve under the said Act, and thereupon such lands shall be inalienable unless by special Act of Parliament passed in that behalf, and no person shall cut or remove timber or in any way interfere with such lands, or damage the scenic features thereof; and such lands may be fenced, preserved, and conserved intact as and for an inalienable patrimony of the people of New Zealand:

Bounded towards the north-west by the Marton-Murimotu Road; towards the north-east by a public road; towards the south-east by Section No. 38, Block VI., Ongo Survey District; and towards the north-west by Section No. 3 of Block VI. aforesaid.

Also all that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 3 roods 39 perches, more or less, being Section No. 2, Block VI., Ongo Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by the Marton-Murimotu Road; towards the south-east by the railway reserve and by Section No. 38, Block VI., Ongo Survey District; and towards the south-west by a public road.

As the same are delineated on the plan marked S.G. 52606/22, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon bordered red.

All that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 7 acres 3 roods 27 perches, more or less, being Section No. 4, Block VI., Ongo Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by the railway reserve; towards the south-east by Sections Nos. 38A and 38 of Block VI., Ongo Survey District: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 52606/22A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon bordered red.

All that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres and 33 perches, more or less, being Section No. 48, Block IX., Ongo Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by Section No. 49, Block IX., Ongo Survey District; towards the south-east by Rata Road; towards the south-west and towards the north-west by a public road: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 52606/22B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon bordered red.

All that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 18 acres 1 rood 27 perches, more or less, being Section No. 3, Block VI., Ongo Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by the Marton-Murimotu Road; towards the east by Section No. 1, Block VI., Ongo Survey District; towards the south-east by Section No. 38 of the said Block VI.; and towards the south-west by a public road.

Also all that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres and 37 perches, more or less, being Section No. 1, Block IX., Ongo Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by a public road; towards the south-east by Section No. 9, Block IX., Ongo Survey District; and towards the north-west by the Marton-Murimotu Road.

As the same are delineated on the plan marked S.G. 52606/22C, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon bordered red.
