REQUEST for leave to amend the specification relating to the undermentioned application for Letters Patent has been received, and is open to public inspection at this office. Any person may, at any time within one month from the date of this Gazette, give me notice in writing of opposition to the amendments. Such notice must set forth the particular grounds of objection, and be in duplicate. A fee of 10s. is payable thereon.

The nature of the proposed amendment is as follows:—
(1.) To strike out the third claim, consisting of the words: “A damper placed immediately under the fire-bars of a grate or range to control the draught admitted to same, substantially as set forth.”
The applicant states:—
My reasons for making this amendment are as follow:—
(1.) In developing my invention this claim fails to describe same in the manner thought, before such developing had taken place.
(2.) The claim is perhaps too broad.
I therefore desire claim 3 to be deleted.
