Altering Sheriffs’ Districts of Wanganui and Rangitikei
and Wellington, and defining District of Manawatu.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
conferred upon me by “The Sheriffs Act, 1883,” and
of every other power and authority in that behalf enabling
me, I, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the first
day of October next, the boundaries of the Sheriff’s District
of Wanganui and Rangitikei, and of the Sheriff’s District
of Wellington, shall be altered, and that thenceforth the
boundaries thereof shall be the boundaries described in
the First Schedule hereto; and I do hereby further proclaim
and define the district described in the Second Schedule
hereto to be, on and from the first day of October next, a
Sheriff’s district under the said Act.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
THE SHERIFF’S DISTRICT OF WANGANUI AND RANGITIKEI.
Bounded towards the north by the Sheriff’s District of
Auckland as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 45,
of the 31st May, 1883, from the Wanganui River to the
Sheriff’s District of Hawke’s Bay as described in the New
Zealand Gazette No. 45, of the 31st May, 1885; thence towards the east generally by the said Sheriff’s District of
Hawke’s Bay to the Sheriff’s District of Manawatu hereinafter described; thence towards the south and south-east
generally by the said Sheriff’s District of Manawatu to the
mouth of the Rangitikei River; thence towards the west
and south-west by the sea to the mouth of the Patea River;
and thence towards the north-west and west generally by the
Sheriff’s District of Taranaki as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 13, of the 1st March, 1888, to the place of
commencement.
THE SHERIFF’S DISTRICT OF WELLINGTON.
Bounded towards the north generally by the Sheriff’s
District of Manawatu hereinafter described, from the
mouth of the Manawatu River to the western boundary of
the Sheriff’s District of Wairarapa as described in the New
Zealand Gazette No. 1, of the 7th January, 1875; thence
towards the south-east generally by the said Sheriff’s District of Wairarapa to the sea at Cape Turakirae; and thence
towards the south-west and north-west generally by the sea
to the mouth of the Manawatu River, the place of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
THE SHERIFF’S DISTRICT OF MANAWATU.
Bounded towards the north generally by the County of
Rangitikei as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 73,
of the 1st September, 1904, from the Rangitikei River to the
summit of the Ruahine Range; thence towards the south-east by the summit of the said Ruahine Range and the leading spur to the Manawatu River; thence by a right line to
the middle of the Manawatu River at the north-eastern
corner of Kairanga County as described in the Schedule to
“The Kairanga County Act, 1901”; thence by the eastern
boundary of the said Kairanga County to the north-eastern
corner of the Horowhenua County as described in the New
Zealand Gazette No. 133, of the 19th December, 1884;
thence towards the south generally by the said Horowhenua
County to the sea at the mouth of the Manawatu River;
thence towards the west by the sea to the mouth of the
Rangitikei River; and thence towards the north-west generally by the said Rangitikei River to the place of commencement.

Commander of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight
Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His
Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington,
this thirtieth day of August, in the year of our
Lord one thousand nine hundred and five.
