Requiring an Officer of the Civil Service to continue to perform his Duties.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-first day of August, 1905.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS William Charles Kensington, an officer of the Civil Service holding the offices of Under-Secretary for Crown Lands and Immigration in and for the Colony of New Zealand, did on the third day of August, in the year one thousand nine hundred and five, attain the full age of sixty years, and was thereupon entitled to retire from the Civil Service upon a superannuation allowance: And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient that the said officer should continue to perform his duties:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the thirty-fourth section of “The Civil Service Act, 1866,” doth hereby require the said William Charles Kensington, who would otherwise retire, to remain in the Civil Service, and to continue to perform the duties pertaining to the offices of Under-Secretary for Crown Lands and Immigration in and for the Colony of New Zealand.

Regulations for Coursing Hares, Southland District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-first day of August, 1905.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN exercise of the powers conferred by “The Animals Protection Amendment Act, 1903,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby make and prescribe the following regulations for fixing the conditions under which and the season at which hares may be coursed in the Southland Acclimatisation District during the year 1905.


REGULATIONS.

  1. No person shall course hares within the Southland District unless he holds a license so to course in the form set forth in the Schedule hereto.

  2. For every such license a fee of 10s. shall be paid, and, subject to the provisions of these regulations, such licenses may be issued by the Postmasters at Invercargill, Riverton, and Wairoa respectively.

  3. The season within which such coursing may take place shall begin on the 21st day of August, 1905, and terminate on the 30th day of November, 1905.

  4. No person shall course hares in the said district with more than two dogs at any one time, and such dogs shall be under proper control of the owner or person in charge.

  5. Nothing herein contained shall extend to prevent any person who holds a valid license to take or kill game within the said district from coursing hares therein during the game season, or necessitate the taking out by such person of a coursing license in respect of such season; or to prevent any coursing club from coursing hares owned by such club and coursed within any enclosure belonging to or held under a bona fide tenancy by such club.

  6. Any person committing a breach of any of these regulations shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding £5.

[Name], of [Address], in the Provincial District of [Occupation], having this day paid the sum of 10s., is hereby licensed to course hares within the Southland Acclimatisation District from the date hereof until the day of , 1905, subject to the provisions of “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and its amendments, and any regulations made thereunder respectively.

Appointing the Buildings of the Auckland Farmers’ Freezing Company (Limited) at Penrose to be a Store for Dairy-produce for Export, under “The Dairy Industry Act, 1898.”—Notice No. 979.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-first day of August, 1905.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by subsection two of section twenty-five of “The Dairy Industry Act, 1898,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby appoint the buildings in the occupation of the Auckland Farmers’ Freezing Company (Limited) at Penrose, used as a freezing-works, to be a store for the storage, cooling, or freezing of dairy-produce prior to export; and it is hereby declared that this Order in Council shall come into force from and after the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

Registration of Acclimatisation Societies.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-first day of August, 1905.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Animals Protection Act, 1903,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby make the following regulations respecting the registration and the formation of acclimatisation societies for the purposes of “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and the Acts amending the same:—

REGULATIONS.

  1. Any number of persons, not being less than fifty, who have associated themselves together into a society for the acclimatisation in New Zealand of animals, birds, fish, or plants may petition the Governor for registration under “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and its amendments.

  2. Such petition shall set out the objects of the society, the number of members, and the district within which the society proposes to conduct its operations, together with any other particulars which the Governor may require.

  3. Where any such proposed district forms part of any existing acclimatisation district, the petitioners shall, before presenting any such petition, forward a copy thereof to the secretary of each acclimatisation society affected by such petition, and shall state in such petition to whom such copies have been sent.

  4. The Governor, having caused such inquiry to be made respecting such petition as he deems necessary, may, if he thinks fit, direct the publication of a notice in the Gazette that such society is to be deemed to be a duly registered acclimatisation society for the purposes of “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and its amendments, as from the date of such Gazette, and may direct what district shall be assigned to such society and within which it shall carry on operations.

  5. If at any time it shall be made to appear that a registered society has ceased to exist or has failed to carry out the objects for which it was formed, the Governor may direct the publication of a notice in the Gazette cancelling the registration of such society, and thereupon such society shall cease to be deemed a registered acclimatisation society for the purposes of the Animals Protection Acts.
