"The Agricultural and Pastoral Statistics Act, 1895."—Notice No. 934.

Department of Agriculture, Wellington, 10th February, 1905.

In the New Zealand Gazette of the 15th December, 1904. there appeared an interim return showing the areas under corn and green crops according to the collection made in October last. The following figures give the complete returns, including the areas under grasses, &c., also the number of horses, cattle, and swine at same date, and sheep on the 30th April last.

WHEAT.

  • Owing to the prevalence of rust in the oat crop in the North Island, a considerable area of the 1903-4 crop was unfit for threshing. This was estimated at 17,750 acres. The area actually threshed, therefore, is estimated at 391,640 acres. (See Supplement to the New Zealand Gazette of 23rd June, 1904.)
