Notice of Acceptance of Complete Specifications.

Patent Office,
Wellington, 29th November, 1905.

COMPLETE specifications relating to the undermentioned applications for Letters Patent have been accepted, and are open to public inspection at this office. Any person may, at any time within two months from the date of this Gazette, give me notice in writing of opposition to the grant of any such patent. Such notice must set forth the particular grounds of objection, and be in duplicate. A fee of 10s. is payable thereon.

No. 18577.—11th October, 1904.—Ernest Grundy, of Gisborne, New Zealand, Cabinetmaker. An improved portable woven-wire stretcher.*

Claims.—(1.) An improved stretcher characterized by the combination of woven wire placed transversely across the stretcher, side rails and battens secured to the edges of the woven wire, bolts passing through the side rails, nuts carried in recesses in the legs of the stretcher, there being longitudinal holes in the legs for the bolts, bolts for pivoting the legs together, a head-board having pins taking into holes in the side rails, and a spreader-bar between the rails at the bottom of the stretcher, substantially as set forth. (2.) The combination and arrangement of parts comprising an improved portable woven-wire stretcher, substantially as and for the purposes specified and as illustrated in the drawing.

No. 18917.—31st December, 1904.—Charles Sutte, Engineer, and Montague Harrison Wynyard, Solicitor, both of Onehunga, Auckland, New Zealand. An improved apparatus for treating New Zealand flax after stripping.*

Extract from Specification.—The apparatus comprises an arrangement of pulleys and wire bands and a circular block or drum fixed or mounted to revolve on a perpendicular axis by which the blades or hanks of stripped flax may be fed on to the face of the drum or block so as to lie along it. Combined with these are a number of travelling beaters or scrapers which are so mounted as to pass along the face of the drum as it revolves in order to scrape the flax held thereon for the purpose before mentioned. At the same time a stream of water for washing away the waste matter is fed on to the drum at its top end.

No. 18929.—7th January, 1905.—William Dall, of Dunedin, New Zealand, Merchant. Improved bowl- or ball-testing machine.*

Extract from Specification.—I make an arm to swing, preferably in centres, said arm having much the action of a man’s arm in bowling, though usually the swing is longer. . . . The arm has a cup-like end, taking the place of a hand, and a thumb-like lever keeping the bowl in the cup till automatically releasing it at the point of swing needed.

No. 18935.—10th January, 1905.—Henry Edwin McDonald, of Petone, New Zealand, Merchant. A revolving egg-preserver.*

Claim.—A revolving egg-preserver consisting of an airtight box suspended on a stand by pivots on which it is made to turn, substantially as described, and illustrated in the drawings. The purpose being to preserve for indefinite periods by keeping the inner skin moistened by the albumen, so that no part becomes dry, therefore lifeless, and to keep the yoke in the centre of the egg.

Extract from Specification.—This invention provides a beater by which eggs may be rapidly and thoroughly beaten, and comprises a disc around the circumference of which teeth are formed by cutting slits around the disc and turning the metal between the slits alternately upwards and down-
