Notice as to Day for closing under “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894.”
NOTICE is hereby given that, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894,” and of all other powers and authorities me hereto enabling, and in terms of notice in writing duly received by me from the chairman of the conference of delegates of all the local authorities comprised in the district constituted for the purposes of that Act by the Borough of Ashburton, and the Town Districts of Hampstead and Tinwald (being all the boroughs or town districts any part of any one of which is situate within a mile of any part of another), I, Thomas Young Duncan, acting for and on behalf of the Minister of Labour, hereby appoint Thursday to be the day on which all shops in the said district shall be closed as provided by that Act.

Notice of the Laying-off of Roads in Nuhaka No. 2 Block, Hawke’s Bay Land District.
NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, under the authority of section 92 of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” that the roads described in the Schedule hereto were duly taken and laid off on 30th July, 1901, through the lands specified in the said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the said colony, by Warrant dated 27th February, 1899.

Notification of Settlement of Claims for Compensation under “The Mining Act, 1898.”
Mines Department,
Wellington, 2nd February, 1904.
IN pursuance of the provisions of the 240th section of “The Mining Act, 1898,” it is hereby notified that the claims for compensation enumerated in the Schedule hereto, in respect to a Proclamation issued under the hand of His Excellency the Governor and the Public Seal of the Colony on the 15th day of January, 1903, declaring the Grey River, with its tributaries, in the Land Districts of Nelson and Westland, to be watercourses into which tailings, &c., may be discharged, have been settled, and all further claims and remedies in respect of the said Proclamation are barred, as provided by the said Act.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 2 of “The Towns Main Streets Act, 1902,” I, Thomas Young Duncan, Minister of Lands, do hereby authorise the laying-off of Neeve Road, in the Town of Taradale Extension, Hawke’s Bay Land District, of a width of 66 ft., instead of 99 ft. as prescribed by section 17 of “The Land Act, 1892.”

NOTE.—“Not otherwise enumerated” appears as n.o.e.; “other kinds” as o.k.; “articles and materials suited only for, and to be used solely in, the fabrication of goods in the colony” as a. & m.s. Articles marked thus * are revised decisions.

Notice by the Public Trustee under “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”
To the owner or owners of a parcel of land containing 1 rood, more or less, being Section No. 634, on the west side of York Street, in the Township of Picton and Provincial District of Marlborough. The owner is Richard Nicholls, described as of Picton, hotelkeeper, who cannot be traced.
WHEREAS the Public Trustee has instituted inquiries, and has not thereby ascertained who the owner or owners of the above-described land is or are, and believes that such owner is, or owners are, not in the colony:
Now, this notice calls upon such owner or owners, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his or their title to the land specified in this notice; and, if such owner does or owners do not, within the time limited, so establish his or their title, the Public Trustee will exercise the powers and authorities granted to him in and by “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”
