of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby
order and declare that the land shown upon the said map
and described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for
the purposes of the said Native school, and shall vest in His
Majesty the King, as from the first day of August, one
thousand nine hundred and four.

posited in the Education Department, at Wellington, and
thereon bordered pink.

Trustee for Wharf at Kawhia.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-
seventh day of June, 1904.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the thirtieth
day of June, one thousand nine hundred and two,
and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 54, of the
third day of July following, the management of a wharf at
Kawhia was vested in Thomas Goodfellow, D'Arcy Hamil-
ton, and George H. Buckeridge, as trustees for the inhabit-
ants of the district:
And whereas the said Thomas Goodfellow resigned his
trusteeship, and William Wilson McCardle, of Pirongia,
was, by Order in Council dated the fifth day of June, one
thousand nine hundred and three, and published in the
New Zealand Gazette No. 48, of the eighteenth day of the
same month, appointed to act as trustee in his stead
jointly with the said D'Arcy Hamilton and George H.
Buckeridge:
And whereas the said George H. Buckeridge has resigned
his trusteeship, and Thomas Oliver Turnbull, of Kawhia,
is willing to act as trustee in his stead:
And whereas it is desirable to revoke the said Order in
Council of the thirtieth day of June, one thousand nine
hundred and two, as to the said George H. Buckeridge, and
to substitute as trustee in his place the said Thomas Oliver
Turnbull:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority conferred upon him by “The Harbours
Act Amendment Act, 1883,” and of all other powers and
authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said colony, doth hereby revoke the said Order in Council of
the thirtieth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and
two, in so far as the same relates to the said George H.
Buckeridge, and in his stead doth hereby appoint the said
Thomas Oliver Turnbull to be a trustee under the said
Order in Council jointly with the said D'Arcy Hamilton
and William Wilson McCardle.

Removing Restrictions against Alienation of Native Land.
PLUNKET, Governor.
WHEREAS application has been made to the Governor
by the owner of the land described in the Schedule hereto, praying that the restrictions on the alienation of the said land, contained in Crown grant bearing date the twenty-second day of November, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six, may be removed: And whereas inquiry has been duly made by the Native Land Court, and the said Court has recommended that such restrictions be removed:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the fifty-second section of “The Native Land Court Act, 1894,” and in accordance with the recommendation of the Native Land Court, doth hereby order and declare that all restrictions imposed by the said Crown grant on the alienation of the said land are hereby removed.
SCHEDULE.
All that piece or parcel of land, situate in the City of Wellington, containing 27 perches, more or less, known as Allotment No. 24, Te Aro Pa, being the land comprised in Crown grant dated the 22nd day of November, 1866, in favour of Ahipene Marangai, and containing the following restrictions: “Inalienable by sale, or by lease for a longer period than twenty-one years, or by mortgage, except with the consent of the Governor being previously obtained to every such sale, lease, or mortgage.”
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-ninth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and four.

Rural Lands in Auckland Land District open for Sale or Selection.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section one hundred and thirty-six of “The Land Act, 1892,” and section two of “The Bush and Swamp Crown Lands Settlement Act, 1903,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare and provide as follows, that is to say:—

The rural lands enumerated in the Schedules hereto are hereby set apart for disposal by way of sale or selection on and after the twenty-fourth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and four, at the respective prices specified in the said Schedules.

The said lands may be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on lease in perpetuity; provided that in the case of land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, it shall be selected on lease in perpetuity only and shall not be purchased for cash.

For the purposes of “The Bush and Swamp Crown Lands Settlement Act, 1903,” the lands enumerated in the First Schedule hereto shall be deemed to be “heavy-bush land,” the lands in the Second Schedule shall be deemed to be “light-bush land,” and the lands in the Third Schedule shall be deemed to be “scrub land.”

No general rate shall be levied or collected by any local authority from the said lands for the period of four years in the case of heavy-bush land, three years in the case of light-bush land, and two years in the case of scrub land, from the date from which in each case respectively such land is disposed of, and no local authority shall have power to levy or collect any such rate from such land during such period.

After the first half-year’s rent has been paid by the selector the further instalments of rent payable by him for a period of four years in the case of heavy-bush land, three years in the case of light-bush land, and two years in the case of scrub land shall not be demanded; provided that if at any time during the first five years of his occupancy the selector disposes of his interest in the land the rent so conceded shall be paid by him in full, and thereupon the Land Board may remit such instalments of rent payable by the incoming tenant, not exceeding in the aggregate the amount of rent previously conceded to the selector, as the Board shall think fit.
