Situated from seven to ten miles from Waikawa. Steep, rough, and broken country; all covered with forest, principally miro, kamai, and rimu, not suitable for sawmilling; clay soil; peaty in places. Height above sea-level from 350ft. to 1,300 ft. Litho. No. 343.

Situated from four to six miles from Waikawa Township. All covered with timber of an inferior and mixed class, unsuitable for sawmilling. The land is hilly and broken; soil fairly good, and well watered. Litho. No. 343.

Situated near Woodend Township and Railway-station. Land nearly all flat; soil fair, in part peaty and wet. Part of the land is abandoned sawmill workings, with some timber left suitable for fencing and firewood; part open and covered with manuka scrub. Sections 38 to 41, inclusive, are subject to the existing tramway-right through them, 25 links wide. Litho. No. 338.

VUW Te Waharoa — NZ Gazette 1904, No 5

The Old Government Buildings (depicted) were completed in 1876 and initially housed the entire Wellington-based civil service as well as the entire New Zealand Cabinet. The Executive Council met there until 1948.
