Regulation under “The Inebriates Institutions Act, 1898.”

RANFURLY, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this eleventh day of May, 1904.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE SIR J. G. WARD PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section five of “The Inebriates Institutions Act, 1898,” it is provided that the Governor in Council may from time to time make, alter, and repeal regulations, which shall be published in the New Zealand Gazette, for the management, supervision, inspection, and regulation of institutions for inebriates, and for the care, treatment, and release of, and for the discipline and conduct to be observed by, patients and residents therein, and for the fees payable by patients and residents therein, and generally for the better carrying out the purposes of the said Act as it affects the said institutions, and the officers, patients, and residents therein: And whereas it is deemed expedient that the regulation set out in the Schedule hereto should be made:

Now, therefore, in exercise of the hereinbefore-recited powers, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby, for the purposes of the said Act, make the regulation set forth in the Schedule hereto, and declare that it shall apply to every institution for inebriates under the said Act, and shall be read with and form part of the regulations made by the Governor in Council on the nineteenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and two.


SCHEDULE.

REGULATION.

Any patient who is in business on his own account may, within the first week of his committal to an institution for inebriates, submit to the Superintendent for approval the name of an agent authorised to conduct his business. If the agent so nominated is approved by the Superintendent he shall be allowed to visit and correspond with the patient without restriction. If the agent in any way supplies intoxicating drink to any patient, or assists or connives in the procuring of intoxicating drink for any patient, his privileges as agent under this regulation shall be withdrawn.

Authorising the Exchange of a Reserve in Canterbury for other Land.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this eleventh day of May, 1904.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE SIR J. G. WARD PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the first column of the Schedule hereto has been set apart as a gravel-pit: And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient to exchange the said land for that described in the second column of the Schedule hereto:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the fourth section of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” and the third section of “The Public Reserves Act Amendment Act, 1889,” doth hereby declare that the said land described in the first column of the Schedule hereto may be exchanged for the land described in the second column of the Schedule hereto.


SCHEDULE.

Description of Reserve intended to be exchanged. Description of Land to be obtained in Exchange therefor.
All that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District, containing 5 acres, more or less, being Reserve No. 1945, situate in Block IV., Westerfield Survey District, being a rectangular block of land having 501 links frontage on the Rakaia Road, and extending in a north-westerly direction 1002 links, the south-western corner of the reserve being distant 2071 links from the southern-most corner of Rural Section No. 28549, along the said road in a north-easterly direction. Reserved for a gravel-pit in New Zealand Gazette of 11th October, 1877, page 1012. All that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District, containing 2 acres 2 roods, more or less, being part of Rural Section No. 28549, Block IV., Westerfield Survey District. Bounded towards the west by the road forming the western boundary of Section No. 28549, 787·5 links; on the north-east by the said Section No. 28549, 712·2 links; and on the south-east by the Rakaia Road, 787·5 links. Also all that parcel of land, containing 2 acres 2 roods, more or less, being part of Rural Section No. 28549, Block IV., Westerfield Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by the road forming the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 28549, 727 links; on the south-east by the Rakaia Road, 727 links; and on the west by the said Section No. 28549, 845 links. Be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked S.G. 52140, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Revoking Delegation of Powers under “The Public Domains Act, 1881,” to the Dobson Domain Board.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this eleventh day of May, 1904.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE SIR J. G. WARD PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Public Domains Act, 1881,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby revoke a certain Order in Council, made and issued on the twenty-eighth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three, under the said Act, delegating all the powers conferred by the said Act (except the powers conferred by sections five and twelve thereof) in respect of the parcels of land described in the Schedule hereto to the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Brunner, who are known as the Dobson Domain Board.


SCHEDULE.

All that parcel of land in Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 5 acres, more or less, being Reserve No. 258 (in red), Town of Dobson, Block X., Arnold Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by Omapere Street, 1000 links; towards the north-east by Maori Street, 500 links; towards the south-east by Mawhera Street, 1000 links; and towards the south-east by Herald Street, 500 links.

Also all that parcel of land in Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 3 acres 2 roods, more or less, being Reserve No. 290 (in red), Town of Dobson. Bounded towards the north-west by Mawhera Street, 700 links; towards the north-east by Maori Street, 500 links; towards the south-east by Pukaki Street, 700 links; and towards the south-west by Sections Nos. 391 and 362, 500 links.

Be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same are delineated on the plan deposited in the District Lands and Survey Office, Hokitika.
