Altitude from 250 ft. to 750 ft. Section 5, limestone hills and alluvial flats, covered with small patches of grass, manuka, and a small patch of kahikatea; suited for pastoral and dairying purposes; situated three miles from Otorohanga Railway-station. Section 7, limestone formation; very good soil, undulating to broken; covered with fern and manuka; contains small patches of mixed bush; well watered, and suited for pastoral purposes; six miles from Otorohanga. Section 13, sandstone formation and alluvial flats, undulating to broken; good soil, covered with grass, fern, and manuka; 20 acres swamp, easily drained; well suited for dairying or pastoral purposes; three miles from Otorohanga. Section 14, sandstone with small alluvial flats and swamps; good soil; a little kahikatea bush; suited for dairying or pastoral purposes. Section 15, sandstone formation, with small alluvial flats and swamps; soil fair to good; undulating to broken; suited only for pastoral purposes. Section 16, sandstone formation with alluvial flats; soil good to very good; broken to undulating; suited for dairying and pastoral purposes; six miles from Otorohanga.

Altitude from 250 ft. to 400 ft. All open country, covered with fern, manuka, and furze; suited for dairying or pastoral purposes; soil good, but light; undulating to broken, and well watered. Access from either Hangatiki or Otorohanga Railway-stations by good tracks. Three miles from Otorohanga.

Altitude about 500 ft. Broken country; soil mostly poor; fern and manuka, and a few patches of mixed bush; well watered, and suited for pastoral purposes. Six miles from Otorohanga Railway-station. Access by pack-track.

Rural Land in Otago Land District open for Sale or Selection.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural land enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the thirtieth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and four; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the price at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

This section is situated about two miles from the Town of Milton. The soil is good, but the section is steep, and has a bad aspect, while most of the area is covered with gorse and tutu.
