No. 16140.—26th March, 1903.—Philip Magnus, of 52, Harmsworth Street, Collingwood, Victoria, Collector. Improvements in pneumatic tires.
The nature of the proposed amendments is as follows:—
-
To strike out lines 1, 2, and 3, page 2, of the specification, and to insert instead the following: “This invention relates to pneumatic tires for vehicles, and provides more especially improvements in the construction thereof and in the mode of securing them in the rims of wheels, and an improved process for treating leather to be used in the construction of said tires, whereby the leather is impregnated and faced with a coating of rubber and a tire of great durability and power to resist moisture and puncture is obtained.”
-
To insert at the end of page 4, before the preamble to the claims on page 5, the following: “I desire it to be understood that I lay no claim to the exclusive use of leather in the construction of a cover, casing, or tread-ring for tires, nor do I claim any new mode of tanning leather. What I do claim as new and part of my invention is my process of treating leather whereby it becomes impregnated and faced with a coating of rubber; the rubber during the process being used in solutions in which the leather is immersed as described herein.”
The applicant states, “My reasons for making this amendment are as follows: For the fuller explanation of my invention.”
