area described in the Schedule hereto to be a borough under the said Act, on and from the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and five; that the name of such borough shall be the Borough of Geraldine; that the said borough shall be an undivided borough; and that the number of Councillors to be elected thereto shall be six, exclusive of the Mayor.
And I do further proclaim and declare that Timothy Herlihy, of Geraldine, shall be the Returning Officer to conduct the first election of Mayor and Councillors of the said borough, and also the Town Clerk, and the person to prepare the district electors roll for the purposes of the said first election.
And, lastly, I do proclaim and declare that the first election of Mayor and Councillors of the said borough shall be held on Thursday, the nineteenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and five; and that the first meeting of the Council of the said borough shall be held on Tuesday, the twenty-fourth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and five, at half-past seven o’clock in the evening, at the office of the Geraldine Town Board.

BOROUGH OF GERALDINE.
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District situated in Geraldine Survey District, bounded towards the north-east by the northern side of the North Town Belt of the Town of Geraldine from a point in line with the western side of the West Town Belt, Town of Geraldine, to the westernmost corner of Section No. 14 of the Town of Geraldine; thence by the northern boundary-line of the said Section No. 14, and the said boundary-line produced to the eastern side of the thoroughfare known as Waihi Terrace Road, Town of Geraldine; thence towards the east by the said eastern side of Waihi Terrace Road to the south-western corner of Reserve No. 755; thence towards the north-west by the last-mentioned reserve to the right bank of the Waihi River; thence again towards the east by the said right bank of the Waihi River to a point in line with the north-western boundary-line of Rural Section No. 10309; thence towards the south-east by a right line to and by the said north-western boundary-line of the said Rural Section No. 10309 to the easternmost corner of Rural Section No. 9949; thence towards the south-west by the last-mentioned section to the southern side of Pleasant Valley Road; thence again towards the south-east by the southern side of the said Pleasant Valley Road to a point in line with the south-western side of Pye’s Road (which forms the north-eastern boundaries of Rural Sections Nos. 10735 and 10370); thence again towards the south-west by a right line to and by the said south-western side of Pye’s Road to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary-line of Rural Section No. 16801; thence towards the west generally by a right line across Pye’s Road to the south-eastern corner of Rural Section No. 16801, and by the said Section No. 16801, and Rural Section No. 21616, to Raukapuka Downs Road; thence by a right line across that road to the southernmost corner of Rural Section No. 8890; and thence by the said Section No. 8890, and by Rural Section No. 7456, by the crossing of a road, and again by the last-mentioned section and the crossing of Mill Road to the northern side of the North Town Belt of the Town of Geraldine, the place of commencement.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this fifteenth day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and four.

Resuming Land held under Occupation with Right of Purchase for the Purpose of a Gravel-pit.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and twenty-five of “The Land Act, 1892” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor in Council may, by Proclamation, resume possession of any land held under lease or license under Part III. of the said Act which in his opinion is required for any public purpose:
And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto forms part of land which is held under occupation with right of purchase from His Majesty the King, under Part III. of the said Act, dated the twenty-sixth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine:
And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, part of the said land described in the said Schedule is required for a public purpose—that is to say, for the purpose of a gravel-pit:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1892,” and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby proclaim and declare that I hereby resume possession of the land described in the Schedule hereto for the public purpose hereinbefore mentioned, the same being part of the land as held under occupation with right of purchase as aforesaid, and also do hereby proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on the twenty-second day of December, one thousand nine hundred and four.

Altering the Boundaries of the Land Registration Districts of Otago and Southland.
PLUNKET, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-third day of November, 1904.
Present:
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE R. J. SEDDON PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by “The Land Transfer Act, 1885,” it is enacted that the Governor in Council may from time to time alter the boundaries of any land registration district under the said Act: And whereas it is expedient to alter the boundaries of the Otago and Southland Land Registration Districts respectively so as to include within the limits of the latter district certain lands described in the Schedule hereto, which have heretofore been included within the limits of the former district:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by the above-mentioned Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby order that, from and after the twelfth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and four, the land described in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be in the Otago Land Registration District, and shall thenceforth be in the Southland Land Registration District; and the boundaries of the said several districts are hereby altered accordingly.
