Regulations for Issue of Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers’ Decoration amended.

H IS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to ap-
prove that the regulations as to the issue, &c., of
the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers’ Decoration, insti-
tuted under Royal Warrant dated 18th May, 1899, as pub-
lished in New Zealand Gazette No. 33, dated 1st May, 1902,
be amended as follows, and with effect from 3rd August,
1902 :——

Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers’ Decoration.—Qualifying Service.

Paragraph 2, (a). Delete the words, “Provided that no
officer shall be eligible unless at least half his qualifying
service has been rendered in the Militia or Volunteer Forces
of one or more colonies or protectorates.”

towards the Decoration to the 31st December, 1887, of
twenty-one years five months and twelve days.

Lists for Officers in the New Zealand Volunteer Regulations abolished, and the Active List and the Retired List for the whole of the Defence Forces in New Zealand instituted.

H IS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to ap-
prove of the abolition of the several lists provided
for officers in the New Zealand Volunteer Regulations, and
to institute two lists for the whole of the Defence Forces of
New Zealand—namely, the Active List and the Retired
List.

On the former list to be borne the names of all those
officers actually serving on the Defence Forces and of those
whose age and qualifications render them still fit to serve in
the event of invasion, or in peace time should they so desire.

On the latter list to be borne the names of those officers
who through age or other disability are unfit for further
service in peace or war, and the names of such officers who
desire to be placed in such list.

Alteration in Paragraph 168, Volunteer Regulations (Camp Allowance).

H IS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to ap-
prove that the words “An allowance of 1s. 6d. per
diem per man in camp,” as in paragraph 168, Volunteer
Regulations, 1895, be cancelled, and the words, “An allow-
ance of 2s. per diem per man in camp,” be substituted in
lieu, as from 2nd December, 1902.

Delete from word “For” in tenth line to the word
“Certificate” in sixteenth line.

Engineer and Submarine Mining Volunteers formed into Regiment, and designated “New Zealand Engineer Volunteers.”

and Submarine Mining Volunteers being formed into a
regiment to be designated the “New Zealand Engineer
Volunteers,” in the order of seniority and with the numbers

No. 1 Company, N.Z.E.V. (Canterbury Engineer Volunteers).
No. 2 Company, N.Z.E.V. (Dunedin Engineer Volunteers).
No. 3 Company, N.Z.E.V. (Devonport Naval Submarine Mining Volunteers).
No. 4 Company, N.Z.E.V. (Auckland Engineer Volunteers).
