CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

Pastoral Run, Otago Land District, liable to Forfeiture.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Dunedin, 22nd December, 1902.

PURSUANT to section 215 of “The Land Act, 1892,” notice is hereby given to the following persons that the undermentioned pastoral license is liable to forfeiture, and that if the rent overdue thereon, together with the full amount of the penalty, be not paid within three months from date, the license will be declared forfeited.

Pastoral Runs in Westland for Lease by Public Auction.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Hokitika, 8th December, 1902.

NOTICE is hereby given that the licenses of the pastoral runs set out below will be offered by public auction at the Land Office, Hokitika, on Tuesday, the 17th day of February, 1903, at the hour of 2 o’clock in the afternoon, at the prices and for the terms given, and subject to any rights of renewal or resumption as may be provided by the Land Acts or other constituted authority, and subject to the necessary declarations being taken.

Maps may be seen at the Land Office, Hokitika, where other full particulars as to conditions of sale and license, &c., may be ascertained.

Payments to be made on the fall of the hammer, and consist, with regard to the said licenses, of six months’ rent in advance and license fee of £1 1s.

Possession of runs Nos. 14 and 68 will be given on date of sale, and of No. 94 on 1st March, 1903. Possession of all the others on 1st March, 1904.

Description of Runs.

Run No. 14 comprises the whole of the watershed of the Hope River. All bush feed, only suitable for cattle. A few narrow flats in valleys, the bulk of run being steep spurs. Access by Cascade to Barn Bay bridle-road.

Run No. 68 takes in the watershed of the Stafford River. Cattle-feed only. Low undulating hills wholly covered with dense forest. Access by bridle-road (much out of repair) from Jackson’s Bay.

Run No. 74 occupies northern bush-clad faces of Square-top Range, between Thomas and Clark Rivers, in Haast Valley. Principally rugged face, with narrow terraces at foot, and a few scrubby flats on river-bank: Access by Haast Valley bridle-road.

Run No. 75, situated on southern bank of Haast River, and extending from Cattle-resting Reserve No. 177 to abreast of Thomas River. All cattle country, bush-clad hillsides. Access by Haast Valley bridle-road.

Run No. 94 takes in all the open tussock country on top of Bannock Brae Range. Rough summer feed for sheep only. Access from Mahitahi River bed.

Run No. 95 extends over the upper valley of the Axis River. All covered with forest. A few open river-flats. Only suitable for cattle. Access by Waiatoto and Axis River bed.

Run No. 99 covers the open mountain-faces of the Main Range in Upper Whitcombe Valley. Summer feed only for sheep. Very rough. Access by bush track from Hokitika Valley, and via Louper Stream from Rakaia Valley.

Run No. 100 comprises the open country on summits of Gribben Spur. Good summer sheep-country. Access from Waitaha River bed.

Run No. 102 occupies the forest lands around and sloping from Conical Hill, at Kanieri Lake. All cattle-feed only. Access by Kanieri Lake dray-road and Butcher Gully bridle-road.

Run No. 102A covers the high bush-clad terraces immediately abreast of Kokatahi Settlement, and sloping from Mount Graham. Only suitable for cattle. Access by branch roads from Kokatahi Main Road.

Crown Lands in Township of South Rakaia to be offered for Lease by Public Auction.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 20th December, 1902.

NOTICE is hereby given that the unsold sections in the Township of South Rakaia, grouped as noted hereunder, will be offered for lease by public auction, at the Courthouse, Rakaia, on Monday, 23rd February, 1903, at 11 a.m.

In the event of the leases of any of the allotments not being disposed of at the auction, they will immediately thereafter be open for selection at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch.

CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

  1. The term of lease will be for a period of seven years, commencing on the day of sale, subject to termination upon six months’ notice in the event of the land being otherwise required.

  2. Possession will be given on the day of sale.

  3. One half-year’s rent and a lease fee of £1 1s. must be paid on the fall of the hammer, or with the application for the lease.

  4. Lessees will be required, within one year from the commencement of the lease, to thoroughly clear the land of gorse, broom, sweetbriar, or other noxious weeds now growing upon the land, and to keep it so cleared during the whole of the term. Not later than the sixth year of the term, the lessee will be required to have the land satisfactorily laid down in grass and clover, and it must be so left at the expiration of the term.

  5. No compensation will be paid for any improvements effected by the lessees, but they will be allowed, on the expiration of their leases, or in the event of the land being resumed as hereinbefore provided, to remove any fencing or buildings erected by them upon the lands.

  6. In addition to the above, the leases will be subject to the general conditions applicable to leases of Crown lands under “The Land Act, 1892.”
