Native Land proposed to be taken for a Road in Ngaurukehu A No. 6, Maungakaretu Survey District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this second day of April, 1903.

Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for a public work, to wit, the purpose of a road, in Maungakaretu Survey District: And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native owners under a title which is not derived from the Crown: And whereas a map in duplicate has been prepared of the said land, as required by the eighty-eighth section of “The Public Works Act, 1894”:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by the eighty-eighth section of the said Act, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby declare that the land shown upon such map, and described in the Schedule hereto, shall be deemed to be taken for the purpose of the said road, and shall vest in His Majesty the King, as from the fifteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and three.

In the Wellington Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan marked and coloured as above mentioned, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District.

Nelson and Marlborough Industrial Districts constituted.

RANFURLY, Governor.

PURSUANT to and in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon him by “The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1900,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand doth hereby revoke that portion of the notice dated the second day of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the seventh day of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, which constitutes the Nelson Industrial District, and in lieu thereof doth hereby declare as follows, that is to say,—

The Nelson Industrial District so constituted as aforesaid is hereby divided into two industrial districts, constituted with the names and boundaries following, that is to say,—

  1. THE NELSON INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT.

All that area bounded towards the north generally by the ocean from Cape Farewell to Elaine Bay, in Tennyson Inlet; thence towards the south-east generally by the leading spur and the summit of the range, over Elliot Peak, Castor Peaks, Mount Dupa, Slaty Peak, and Mount Rintoul, to Top House, thence by the summit of the St. Arnaud Range and the summit of the Spenser Mountains to Mount Humboldt; thence towards the south-west by a right line to a point on the right bank of the Buller River where the said right bank is intersected by the eastern boundary-line of the Buller County; and thence towards the west generally by the Buller County and the ocean to the place of commencement.

  1. THE MARLBOROUGH INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT.

All that area bounded towards the north and east generally by the ocean from Elaine Bay, in Tennyson Inlet, to the mouth of the Clarence River; thence towards the south generally by the Clarence River to Lake Tennyson, thence by a right line to Mount Humboldt; and thence towards the north-west generally by the Nelson District hereinbefore described to the place of commencement.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this ninth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and three.

Members of the New Zealand Institute appointed.

WHEREAS by “The New Zealand Institute Act, 1867,” provision is made for the appointment of members of a Board of Governors of the New Zealand Institute; and it is enacted that on the first day of November, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight, and on the first day of November in each succeeding year, three members of the said Board of Governors shall retire from office, but shall be eligible for reappointment: And whereas Edward Tregear, Esquire, John Young, Esquire, and Thomas Mason, Esquire, three of the members of the said Board of Governors, have retired from office under the provisions of the said Act: And whereas by the said Act it is also provided that on the annual retirement of three members as aforesaid the successors of such retiring members shall be appointed by the Governor:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in that behalf vested in me by the said Act, do hereby appoint

EDWARD TREGEAR, Esquire,
JOHN YOUNG, Esquire, and
THOMAS MASON, Esquire,

to be Governors of the institution called the New Zealand Institute.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this eleventh day of April, one thousand nine hundred and three.
