WATER-RACE.
To the Warden of the Otago Mining District, at Roxburgh.
PURSUANT to “The Mining Act, 1898,” the under-
signed, William Coulter, Richard George, William
Young, and John George, all of Roxburgh, miners, hereby
apply for a license for a branch water-race, as specified in
the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly
marked out for the purpose.
Dates and numbers of miners’ rights: 6/11/02, No. 24388;
11/10/01, No. 24378; 30/9/02, No. 29683; 30/9/02, No. 29684.

Locality of the race, and of its starting and terminal
points: Commencing on the Cemetery Hill, at Roxburgh
East, at the termination of main water-race, held under
license No. 503, dated 14/11/01, and terminating at dam at
Osbourne’s Gully.
Length and intended course of race: About three miles
northerly, through Sections 16, 17, 23, and 24, Block I.,
Teviot District, being land owned by Mr. G. A. Smith.
Points of intake: One only.
Estimated time and cost of construction: Main race, with
two branches, £1,700; twelve months.
Mean depth and breadth: 18 in. by 4 ft.
Number of heads to be diverted: Ten.
Purpose for which water is to be used: Gold-mining.
Proposed term of license: Forty-two years.

In the matter of “The Companies Act, 1882”; and in
the matter of the New Zealand Westport Coal-mines
(Limited).
AT an extraordinary general meeting of the abovenamed
company, duly convened, and held at the registered
office of the company, No. 6, Customhouse Quay, Wellington,
on the 4th day of March, 1903, the following resolution was
duly passed, and at a subsequent extraordinary general
meeting of the members of the said company, also duly
convened, and held at the same place on the 20th day of
March, 1903, the following resolution was duly confirmed,
viz.: “That the company be now wound up voluntarily,
and that Mr. R. F. Smith be appointed Liquidator of the
company for the purposes of such winding-up.”

IN THE SUPREME COURT OF NEW ZEALAND,
OTAGO AND SOUTHLAND DISTRICT.
In the matter of “The Companies Act, 1882,” and its
amendments; and in the matter of the Fortification Rail-
way and Coal Company (Limited).
NOTICE is hereby given that the order of the Supreme
Court of New Zealand, dated the 13th day of March,
1903, confirming the cancellation and reduction of the capital
of the abovenamed company from £40,000 to £26,037 10s.,
and the minute (approved by the Court) showing with
respect to the capital of the company as altered the several
particulars required by the above statutes, were registered
by the Registrar of Joint-stock Companies at Dunedin on
the 18th day of March, 1903. And notice is further given
that the said minute is in the words and figures following,
namely:—
“The capital of the Fortification Railway and Coal Com-
pany (Limited) is henceforth £26,037 10s., divided into
27,925 ordinary shares of 10s. each, 9,075 ordinary shares of
£1 each, and 3,000 preference shares of £1 each, instead of
£40,000, divided into 37,000 ordinary shares of £1 each and
3,000 preference shares of £1 each. At the time of the regis-
tration of this minute 27,925 of the said ordinary shares have
been issued, which have been and are deemed to be fully paid
up; 1,125 of the said ordinary shares have been issued but
have been forfeited, upon 100 of which the sum of 3s. per share
has been and is to be deemed paid, and upon 400 of which
the sum of 1s. 6d. per share has been and is to be deemed
paid, and upon 600 of which the sum of 1s. per share has
been and is to be deemed paid, and upon 25 of which nothing
has been or is to be deemed paid. The residue of the said
ordinary shares, 7,950 in number, have not been issued, and
nothing has been or is to be deemed to have been paid on
any of them. The whole of the said 3,000 preference shares
have been issued, and have been and are to be deemed fully
paid up.”
