And whereas, as required by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” a map has been prepared showing accurately the position and extent of the said land, and such map is hereto attached:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and “The Public Works Acts Amendment Act, 1900,” and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the land shown upon the said map and described in the Schedules hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of the said kaainga or settlement, and shall vest in His Majesty the King, as from the fifteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and three.

Rural Land in the Auckland Land District open for Sale or Selection.

RANFURLY, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on and after the twenty-ninth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and three; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—OPOTIKI COUNTY.
Unsurveyed Second-class Land.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, situate in Block X., Opotiki Survey District, and Blocks I. and II., Waioeka Survey District, containing by admeasurement 6,864 acres, more or less. Bounded towards the north generally by Section No. 1 of Block X., Opotiki Survey District, by a public road, and by Sections Nos. 491 and 490 of the Parish of Waiotahi; towards the east generally by Section No. 393 of the same parish, by a public road, by Sections Nos. 492, 484, and 480 of the same parish, by Section No. 2 of Block II., Waioeka Survey District, by a road 100 links wide running along the western bank of the Waioeka River, by the road forming the northern boundary of Section No. 3 of Block II. aforesaid, and by that section; towards the south by the confiscation boundary-line; towards the north-west generally by a road 100 links wide running along the eastern bank of the Waiotahi River, by Sections Nos. 477 and 456 of the Parish of Waiotahi, and by a public road to the point of commencement.
Description of land: Altitude, from 100 ft. to 2,400 ft. above sea-level; broken land, in many cases steep, covered with mixed forest consisting of tawa, rimu, rata, &c., with a little totara; the undergrowth is thick, with much supple-jack in places; soil fairly good, except where towai or black birch is found growing along tops of ridges; about 200 acres of first-class land in Block II., Waioeka Survey District; well watered. Access from the Waiotahi River Road, seven miles from Ohiwa Harbour and sixteen miles from Opotiki; from the Waioeka River Road; or by means of a 6 ft. road now being formed into the block, eight miles from Opotiki.
Cash price, 10s. to 25s. per acre; occupation with right of purchase, 6d. to 1s. 3d. per acre per annum; lease in perpetuity, 4·8d. to 1s. per acre per annum.

Notifying Lands in Nelson for Sale by Public Auction.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirteenth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Saturday, the twenty-fifth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and three, as the time at which the lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction at the Courthouse, Murchison; and I do hereby fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto opposite the description of such lands respectively.
