for shall be a free gift from the Native owners to His Majesty the King, and the Native owners have agreed to such condition, and it has been made to appear that such agreement is sufficient for the purposes intended to be effected thereby:
And whereas by an order of the Native Land Court, made under the provisions of “The Native Land Court Act, 1894,” and its amendments, bearing date the thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, certain aboriginal natives, as in the said order mentioned, were declared to be the owners of the Tauakira No. 2m Block, within which the said land is situated:
And whereas, as required by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” a map has been prepared showing accurately the position and extent of the said land, and such map is hereto attached:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and “The Public Works Acts Amendment Act, 1900,” and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the land shown upon the said map and described in the Schedules hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of the said kaainga or settlement, and shall vest in His Majesty the King, as from the fifteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and three.

Rural Lands in the Nelson Land District open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.
RANFURLY, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on and after the twenty-eighth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and three; and that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may be selected on lease in perpetuity only, in accordance with the provisions of section one hundred and twenty-one of the said Act, as they contain, or are supposed to contain, metals, minerals, or valuable stone; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892,” and “The Mining Act, 1898,” and amendments.

All level and rather wet land, covered with poor bush; no millable timber; soil poor. Accessible by road, and distant two miles from Westport Railway-station. This section is weighted with £55 10s., value of improvements, which consist of hut, clearing, ditching, &c.

Level agricultural land; good soil; about one-third partially cleared, remainder covered with mixed bush. Part of this section is subject to an overflow of the Buller River in very high floods. Access by Nine-mile Road, distant three miles from Westport.

Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 23, 24, and 25 have frontage to sea-coast; land level; about one-third of each section is open swamp, remainder covered with bush, principally rimu, of no value, with dense undergrowth; light sandy soil. Accessible by bridle-track from Birchfield, and distant about two miles from Waimangaroa Railway-station. Section 24 is weighted with £150, and Section 25 with £50, value of improvements. Sections 6 and 7, low-lying level land, rather wet; fair soil; poorly timbered with pine. Accessible by Waimangaroa River and road reserve, and distant about a mile and a half from Waimangaroa Railway-station.
