Declaring Roads through Lands in Duncan Settlement to be closed.

RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS a report has been received from the Surveyor-General, from which it appears that the roads described in the Schedule hereto are unformed and unused, and that they intersect land required under “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900,” and are not suitable for the subdivision of such land:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of section sixty-nine of the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do by this notice hereby close the roads herein-after described, and I do hereby declare that they shall thereupon become subject to the said Act.

Changing the Purpose of a Reserve in Wellington.

RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto was heretofore duly set apart for public-cemetery purposes, being a reserve within Class I. of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” and such land has not been vested in trust in any society, body corporate, or trustees:

And whereas it is expedient that such reserve shall be appropriated for the purposes of a public-school site, being a reserve in Class III. of the aforesaid Act:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the second section of “The Public Reserves Act Amendment Act, 1889,” do by this notification declare that the said reserve shall, from and after the twelfth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and three, be appropriated for the purposes of a public-school site under Class III. of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881”; and I do hereby direct that this notification shall be published in the New Zealand Gazette.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 4 acres, more or less, being Section No. 12A, Block VII., Tararua Survey District. Bounded towards the north, east, and south by Section No. 12, Block VII., Tararua Survey District; and towards the west by the Mangatainoka Valley Road: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this seventh day of February, one thousand nine hundred and three.

Removing Restrictions against Alienation of Native Land.

RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS by section twenty-four of “The Maori Lands Administration Act, 1900,” it is enacted that for the purposes of the said Act the Governor may, on the recommendation of the Maori Land Council, as constituted under the said Act, remove and revoke any and all restrictions existing against the alienation of Maori land, whether contained in any Crown grant, certificate, or other instrument of title, or in any Act heretofore passed; and thereafter—but subject in every case to the provisions of the said Act—the Maori owners of the land against the alienation whereof the restrictions have been so removed and revoked shall have the same rights and privileges to alienate the land as a European possesses in respect of his land:

And whereas the Te Ikaroa District Maori Land Council (being a Maori Land Council constituted as aforesaid) has, by a recommendation made and passed by the said Council, and signed by its President and two members thereof, recommended His Excellency the Governor to remove and revoke the restrictions against the alienation of the block of land known as Hinana No. 1B No. 1, particulars of which land are set out in the Schedule hereunder written:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and in pursuance of the powers conferred upon and vested in me by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities me thereunto enabling, hereby remove and revoke the restrictions now existing against the alienation of the said block of land.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land, situate in Block XIII., Otahona Survey District, containing 399 acres 1 rood 38 perches, be the same a little more or less, being Subdivision No. 1 of the Hinana 1B Block, and being the whole of the land comprised in certificate of title, Register-book, Vol. cxiv., folio 177.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this seventh day of February, one thousand nine hundred and three.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the sixth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby revoke the appointments of

WILLIAM COOPER,
CHARLES THEODORE NORDELL,
JAMES ALFRED DAYSH, and
WALTER MASON

as Trustees of the Nireaha Public Cemetery.
