NOTICE.

In the matter of a Bill intituled “An Act to enable the Hawera County Electric Company (Limited) to supply and use Electrical Energy for Lighting and Power Purposes within the Borough of Hawera and the Surrounding Districts.”

NOTICE is hereby given that the Hawera County Electric Company (Limited) (hereinafter called “the company”) intends to present a petition to the General Assembly of New Zealand at the ensuing session thereof praying for leave to introduce a Bill to be intituled “An Act to enable the Hawera County Electric Company (Limited) to supply and use Electrical Energy for Lighting and Power Purposes within the Borough of Hawera and the Surrounding Districts.”

The objects of the Bill are—

  1. To authorise the company to supply and use electrical energy within the Borough of Hawera and the surrounding districts, portions of Waimate, Kaupokonui, Ngaiere, and Hawera Survey Districts, and to undertake all works necessary for that purpose.

  2. To enable the company to enter upon any lands within the area of supply as defined by the said Bill, and to undertake or carry out certain works thereon.

  3. To enable the company to dam back, impound, and divert the water of the Waingongoro Stream, but to restore the said water to the bed of the stream at some point or points lower down the course thereof, for the purpose of generating electrical energy, and to enter upon lands abutting on the said stream, and thereon to lay pipes and to construct works necessary for the purpose aforesaid.

  4. To provide for compensating owners of lands abutting upon that portion of the stream from which water shall be diverted, and compensating owners of lands upon which water shall be dammed back, and compensating owners of lands entered upon by the company to carry out any works authorised by the Act.

  5. To confer upon the company power, subject to the consent of the Governor in Council, to make by-laws for the proper management of its business.

  6. To declare that judicial notice shall be taken of any by-law sealed with the seal of the company.

  7. To define the area of supply and use of electrical energy by the company.

  8. To limit the time within which the company shall proceed to erect its plant to two years, and the time within which the supply of electrical energy to consumers shall commence in three years from the coming into force of this Act.

  9. To fix the prices to be charged by the company for electrical energy supplied by it.

Copies of the said Bill will be deposited at the office of the Examiner of Standing Orders on or before the thirteenth day after the commencement of the session, as provided by the Standing Orders.

In the matter of “The Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1900,” and of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and the amendments thereof.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is the intention of the Corporation of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Hawera to take, for the purpose of a public work, to wit, an abattoir, all that piece or parcel of land situate in the Provincial District of Taranaki, in New Zealand, containing by admeasurement thirty-two acres (32 acres), more or less, and being the western portion of Section 221, in the old Patea District, Block IX. of the aforesaid survey district. Bounded on the north-east by other portion of said Section 221, one thousand eight hundred and forty-five links and six-tenths of a link (1845·6 links); on the south-east by other portion of said Section 221, one thousand five hundred and ninety-nine links and six-tenths of a link (1599·6 links); on the south-west by a road called Beach Road, two thousand two hundred and eighty-four links and one-tenth of a link (2284·1 links); and on the north-west by a road called Tawhiti Road, one thousand two hundred and forty-six links and one-half of a link (1246½ links), and again four hundred and twenty-one links and six-tenths of a link (421·6 links). Be all the aforesaid area and linkages a little more or less, the said land being the property of William Evans Dive, of Hawera, Settler.

A plan, in compliance with the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” is deposited at the office of the said Corporation, in High Street, at Hawera aforesaid.

All persons affected by the taking of the said land as aforesaid, or by this notice, are called upon to set forth in writing any well-grounded objections to the taking of the said land for the said purpose, and to send such writing to the Council of the said Corporation within forty (40) days from the 21st day of May, 1902.

IN THE SUPREME COURT OF NEW ZEALAND,
NORTHERN JUDICIAL DISTRICT.

In the matter of “The Companies Act, 1882,” and its amendments; and in the matter of the New Zealand Glass Company (Limited), (in liquidation).

THE creditors of the abovenamed company are required, on or before the thirteenth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and two, to send their names and addresses and the particulars of their debts or claims, and the names and addresses of their solicitors, if any, to John Lawson, of Custom Street West, in the City of Auckland, the Official Liquidator of the said company; and, if so required by notice in writing from the said Official Liquidator, are by their solicitors to come in and prove their said debts or claims at the Registrar’s office, in the Supreme Court House, at the said City of Auckland, at such time as shall be specified in such notice, or in default thereof they will be excluded from the benefit of any distribution made before such debts are proved. Friday, the twenty-seventh day of June, one thousand nine hundred and two, at two o’clock in the afternoon, at the Registrar’s said office, is appointed for hearing and adjudicating upon the debts and claims.

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership lately subsisting between the undersigned, THOMAS WALTER WILLIAMS and JOHN SINCLAIR, as General Carriers, at Taihape and Mangaonoho, under the firm-name of “Williams and Sinclair,” has this day been dissolved by mutual consent. The business will in future be carried on by the said JOHN SINCLAIR in his own name, and he will discharge all liabilities of and collect all moneys due to the late firm.

NOTICE is hereby given, pursuant to section 2 of “The Companies Act, 1882,” that a General Meeting of the members of the abovenamed company will be held at the office of Messrs. Hesketh and Richmond, Solicitors, Wyndham Street, Auckland, on Thursday, the seventh day of August, 1902, at 3 o’clock in the afternoon, for the purpose of having laid before them an account showing the manner in which the winding-up of the company has been conducted and the property of the company disposed of, and hearing any explanation which may be given by the Liquidator, and for the purpose of passing an extraordinary resolution disposing of the books, accounts, and documents of the company and of the Liquidator,
