Appointing Members of Assessment Court under “The Government Valuation of Land Act Amendment Act, 1900.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-first day of May, 1902.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE WM. HALL-JONES PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by “The Government Valuation of Land Act Amendment Act, 1900,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby appoint the persons named in the Schedule hereto to be members of the Assessment Court for the special district set opposite the name of each respectively.

Consenting to closing Portion of Road through Sections 37 and 38, Block XIV., New River Hundred, Southland County.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-first day of May, 1902.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE WM. HALL-JONES PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section twelve, subsection one, of “The Public Works Act Amendment Act, 1900,” it is enacted that a local authority shall not declare any county or district road to be stopped, and such road shall not be deemed to be stopped, until the consent thereto of the Governor by Order in Council gazetted is obtained:

And whereas the Southland County Council has applied for such consent in respect to the portion of the road described in the Schedule hereto:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and in exercise of the above-in-part-recited Act, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby consent to the closing of the part of the road mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

In the Southland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked R. 3751, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured as above noted.

Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of a Portion of a Reserve in the Marlborough Land District.

RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” it is, amongst other things, enacted that the Governor may declare his intention to change or alter the dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter vested in His Majesty or the Governor for any of the purposes named in Class II. of the Schedule to the said Act, whether the same be granted or not; and if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose of such reserve or any part thereof from the purpose or presumed purpose for which it was set apart to any other purpose, the Governor may, by notice gazetted, declare his intention to make such change, and in such notice declare the manner and terms in which the same is intended to be so made:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” aforesaid, declare my intention to change the specific purpose of the portion of the reserve described in the second column of the Schedule hereto from that named in the first column of the said Schedule to that named in the third column of the said Schedule respectively.

SCHEDULE.

Description and Purpose of Original Reserve. Portion which it is intended to change. Intended Purpose.
All that parcel of land in the Marlborough Land District, containing by admeasurement 55 acres, more or less, being Section No. 7, Block V., Orieri Survey District. Reserved on the 4th February, 1898, Gazette No. 9, of the 10th February, 1898, page 245, for a resting-place for travelling stock. All that parcel of land in the Marlborough Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres, more or less, being part of Section No. 7, Block V., Orieri Survey District. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 2, 500 links; towards the east by Section No. 8, 400 links; towards the south by other part of Section No. 7, 500 links; and towards the west by other part of Section No. 7, 400 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Lands and Survey Office, Blenheim. Public cemetery

HIS Excellency the Governor directs it to be notified that he has been informed by His Majesty’s Secretary of State for the Colonies that

M. LOUIS ANTOINE MARIE JOSEPH HENRI, Comte de Courte,

has been appointed Vice-Consul of France, in charge of the French Consulate at Wellington, with consular jurisdiction over New Zealand, the Cook Archipelago, with the Islands of Souvarow, Penrhyn, and Palmerston, and the Tonga Islands.
