Lands taken for Road Purposes through Sections 14, 20,
90, 91, and 97, Pelorus, and Section 20, Queen Charlotte,
Sounds, Blocks III. and IV., Linkwater Survey District,
Sounds County.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto
are required to be taken, under “The Public Works
Act, 1894,” for a certain work, to wit, for road purposes
in Sections 14, 20, 90, and 97, Pelorus, and Section 20,
Queen Charlotte, Sounds, Blocks III. and IV., Linkwater
Survey District:
And whereas an agreement has been entered into with
the owner of the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto to
take such land for the public work hereinafter set forth:
And whereas a plan has been prepared, and the Minister
has recommended the Governor to issue a Proclamation
taking the land, as required by the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested
by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and of every other
power and authority in anywise enabling me in that
behalf, and being satisfied of the sufficiency of the agree-
ment hereinbefore referred to, do hereby proclaim and
declare that, from and after the date of the publication
hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, the lands mentioned in
the Schedule hereto are hereby taken for the purposes of the
said road.

Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished
Order of Saint Michael and Saint George;
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over
His Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its
Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at the Government House, at Wel-
ington, this sixteenth day of May, in the year
of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and two.

Wellington.

WHEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto
are required to be taken, under “The Public Works
Act, 1894,” and its amendments, for a certain work, to wit,
the purpose of widening Riddiford Street, in the City of
Wellington:
And whereas the Wellington City Council has laid before
the Governor a memorial accompanied by a map, and also
the statutory declaration, required by the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested
by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and of every other power
and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do
hereby proclaim and declare that from and after the date of
the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette the lands
mentioned in the Schedule hereto are hereby taken for the
purpose of widening the said street, and shall vest in the
Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Wellington.

Altering Statutory Holidays of Post and Telegraph Department.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this seventh
day of May, 1902.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE SIR J. G. WARD PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the twelfth day
of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-
six, certain regulations were made under the authority of
“ The Post Office Act, 1881,” and “ The Electric Lines Act,
1884,” prescribing and determining, inter alia, the holidays
which should be observed by the Post and Telegraph Depart-
ment of New Zealand: And whereas it is desired to alter
such regulations for such purposes mentioned, and to make
other regulations in lieu thereof:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers conferred by
“ The Post Office Act, 1900,” and “ The Electric Lines
Act, 1884,” and acting by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby
revoke the hereinbefore-mentioned regulations made for the
purposes aforesaid, and in lieu thereof doth make the regu-
lations set forth in the Schedule hereto for those purposes,
and doth declare that such last-mentioned regulations shall
have effect on and from the date of the publication of this
Order in Council in the Government Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
The statutory holidays of the Post and Telegraph Depart-
ment shall be New Year’s Day, Easter Monday, the Birthday
of the Prince of Wales, the Birthday of the King, and Boxing
Day, or any days substituted therefor, respectively.
Whenever any of such days falls upon a Sunday, the next
following Monday shall be a holiday in lieu of such day.
Christmas Day and Good Friday shall be observed for the
purposes of the Post and Telegraph Department as Sundays,
but at the post and telegraph offices of Bluff, Lyttelton,
Onehunga, and Port Chalmers, on those days, the offices
shall be open to the public in the morning from 9.30 a.m. to
10 a.m., as well as in the evening from 5 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.
