IN the New Zealand Gazette of the 19th December, 1901, there appeared an interim return showing the areas under corn crops as on the 15th October last. The following figures give the complete returns, including areas under grasses, green crops, &c., also number of horses, cattle, and swine at same date, and sheep on the 30th April last.
On account of the dry season a deduction has been made from wheat, oats, and barley in the areas returned “for threshing,” as follows: Wheat, 3,100 acres; oats, 4,300 acres; and barley, 1,600 acres. The deductions from “threshing” and consequent additions to “feeding down” are shown in each district return.
