NOTE.—Showery weather; prevailing N.W. wind; rather strong gales on 15th and 18th. Maximum rainfall on 19th, 1·450 in. Thunder on 16th and 18th, with heavy showers of rain. Earthquakes on 1st, 2nd, and 29th, very slight on 29th. Aurora on 28th, coinciding with a sudden dip in barograph curve. Maximum temperature in shade, 75·5° on 28th; minimum, 44° on 17th; mean temperature of dew-point, 47·7°; mean humidity, 67.

Notice of Vesting of Land in the Public Trustee under “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

WHEREAS I, the undersigned, the Public Trustee, have, for the purposes of “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894,” made due inquiries with respect to the land described in the Schedule hereunder written, and the owner thereof, and have, in respect of the said land, given the notices prescribed by section 4 of the said Act, and have in all respects complied with the provisions of the said section: And whereas I have not thereby ascertained who the owner is, and believe that such owner is not in the colony, nor has such owner established his title to the said land, as required by the said Act: I hereby give notice that the said land is, under and by virtue of the said Act, vested in me, as the Public Trustee as aforesaid, as from the date of the publication hereof, and will be administered under the said Act. The assessed value of the said land is less than £100.

Dated at Wellington, this 7th day of January, 1902.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land, containing 40 acres, more or less, being north-western portion of Allotment 106, Parish of Waikiekie, in the Provincial District of Auckland.

Notice by the Public Trustee under “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

To the owner or owners of a parcel of land, containing 60 acres, more or less, being south-west part of Allotment 183, and north-west part of Allotment 189, Parish of Owhiwa, in the Provincial District of Auckland. The last registered owner is John Malone, who is described as of Mahurangi, bushman, and who cannot now be traced.

WHEREAS the Public Trustee has instituted inquiries, and has not thereby ascertained who the owner or owners of the above-described land is or are, and believes that such owner is, or owners are, not in the colony:

Now, this notice calls upon such owner or owners, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his or their title to the land specified in this notice; and, if such owner does or owners do not, within the time limited, so establish his or their title, the Public Trustee will exercise the powers and authorities granted to him in and by “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

Dated this 18th day of December, 1901.

To the owner or owners of a parcel of land, containing 1 acre and 8 perches, more or less, being Subsection 32 of Section 5, Block 1, Jacob’s River Hundred, known as Trentham, bounded on the west by Milton Street, in the Township of South Riverton, in the Provincial District of Otago. The last registered owner is one Thomas George Jones, described as of Invercargill, labourer, who cannot now be traced.

WHEREAS the Public Trustee has instituted inquiries, and has not thereby ascertained who the owner or owners of the above-described land is or are, and believes that such owner is, or owners are, not in the colony:

Now, this notice calls upon such owner or owners, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his or their title to the land specified in this notice; and, if such owner does or owners do not, within the time limited, so establish his or their title, the Public Trustee will exercise the powers and authorities granted to him in and by “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

To the owner or owners of a parcel of land, containing 20 perches, more or less, being the western portion of Lot 12, Block III., having a frontage of 62·5 links to Lowe Street, by a depth of 200 links, Township of Avenal, in the Provincial District of Otago. The last registered owner is one George Funnell, described as of Invercargill, butcher, who cannot now be traced.

WHEREAS the Public Trustee has instituted inquiries, and has not thereby ascertained who the owner or owners of the above-described land is or are, and believes that such owner is, or owners are, not in the colony:

Now, this notice calls upon such owner or owners, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his or their title to the land specified in this notice; and, if such owner does or owners do not, within the time limited, so establish his or their title, the Public Trustee will exercise the powers and authorities granted to him in and by “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”
