Notice as to Day for closing under “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894.”

WHEREAS the local authorities respectively mentioned in the first column of the Schedule hereto have duly notified to me that the days upon which the shops in their respective districts shall be closed, pursuant to the provisions of “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894,” are the days set opposite their respective names in the second column of the said Schedule:

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by the said Act, I, William Hall-Jones, acting for and on behalf of the Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint that the said respective days shall be the days upon which all shops in the said respective districts shall be closed.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Hamilton, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900.”

Sir,—I have the honour, pursuant to the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” to give you notice that a poll of the electors of a portion of the borough qualified to vote was taken on the 31st day of January, 1902, on the following proposal of the Hamilton Borough Council—to wit, to provide a water-supply for a portion of the said borough, in accordance with a scheme prepared by Mr. H. H. Metcalfe, at an estimated cost of £4,757; and, to enable it so to do, to borrow a sum of £5,000 at a rate of interest of 3½ per cent. per annum from the Colonial Treasurer, under the provisions of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act Amendment Act, 1898,” upon the security of a special rate of 9d. in the pound on the annual value of all rateable property in that part of the Borough of Hamilton included in the said scheme, which part is shown edged pink on a plan signed by the said Mayor, and which plan is now open for inspection at the Borough Council Offices, Hamilton, such loan to be repaid at the expiration of forty-one years from the date it is borrowed—and that the resolution in favour of the said proposal was duly carried.

I enclose the statutory declaration in compliance with the said Act.

In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900.”

I, Charles John Wright Barton, Town Clerk of the Borough of Hamilton, do solemnly and sincerely declare,—

  1. That on the 31st day of January, 1902, a poll of those electors of a portion of the Borough of Hamilton qualified to vote was taken upon a proposal to borrow the sum of £5,000.

  2. The said proposal was as follows, to wit: To provide a water-supply for a portion of the said borough in accordance with a scheme prepared by Mr. H. H. And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

“The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1900.”—Notice of Cancellation of Registry.

NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to an application in that behalf made to me by “The Petone Shop-assistants’ Industrial Union of Workers,” registered No. 257, situated at Petone, the registration of that industrial union will be cancelled at the expiration of six weeks from the date hereof unless within the six weeks specified proceedings be commenced by a member or other person interested in or having some claim on the funds of the industrial union to set aside such cancellation, and the same is set aside accordingly.
