Notice of Acceptance of Complete Specifications.

Wellington, 4th September, 1901.

COMPLETE specifications relating to the undermentioned applications for Letters Patent have been accepted, and are open to public inspection at this office. Any person may, at any time within two months from the date of this Gazette, give me notice in writing of opposition to the grant of any such patent. Such notice must set forth the particular grounds of objection, and be in duplicate. A fee of 10s. is payable thereon.

No. 13091.—29th October, 1900.—JOSEPH SPEIGHT, of Kirwee, Canterbury, New Zealand, Engineer. A still-water motor.*

Claims.—(1.) The floats, irrespective of shape or size, and so placed on a wheel that when the said wheel is submerged sufficiently in water the said floats are forced by the action of the water to varying distances from centre of said wheel. (2.) The weights B secured to floats A in such a manner that when the said floats, being submerged in water, are forced outward from centre of said wheel, the weights are also forced outward. (3.) Weights and floats so arranged and controlled that when submerged in water said weights and floats are forced outward on one side of said wheel, and inward or towards the centre on the other side of said wheel, so as to destroy the equilibrium of the said wheel, substantially as set forth in the specification.

No. 13150.—10th November, 1900.—OSCAR ABILDGAAR MOLLER, Engraver; RICHARD TOMLINE, Engineer; and WILLIAM CATTO GREIG, Commercial Traveller, all of Christchurch, New Zealand. Improved apparatus for branding, stamping, and embossing.*

Claims.—(1.) In branding, stamping, and embossing apparatus, a plate or roller that is provided with guides wherein an interchangeable brand or device may be adjusted and heated, as and for the purposes set forth. (2.) In stamping, branding, and embossing apparatus, the combination with a grooved hollow roller that is capable of being heated, of interchangeable letters, brand, or device adapted to dovetail in said groove or grooves, and a second roller, said hollow roller having trunnions that are mounted in guides and are adjusted vertically, as described and set forth. (3.) The general arrangement, construction, and combination of parts in our improved apparatus for branding, stamping, and embossing, substantially as described and illustrated.

No. 13766.—22nd June, 1901.—GEORGE MCMULLEN, of 19, Cowle Street, Perth, Western Australia, Architect, and JOSEPH CHARLES, of Barrack Street, Perth aforesaid, Gentleman. A machine for playing a game of chance.

Claims.—(1.) A new game evolved and obtained by the operation of the apparatus substantially as described, and as illustrated in the drawings. (2.) The peculiar arrangement and combination of parts constituting the apparatus, substantially as and for the purposes described, and as illustrated in the drawings. (3.) The use of two or more cylinders, upon whose peripheries are printed or otherwise shown two or more numerals or signs, and which cylinders are loosely mounted upon a shaft made common to all the said
